The main reason why a lot of ethnically Slovak or Vlach personalities and families are disputed by Hungarians is because they dont differentiate between a persons nationality and ethnicity. Hunyadi was a Hungarian nobleman but of Vlach/Romanian ethnicity. Here in Slovakia we use a different word for a Hungarian as an ethnic Magyar and Hungarian as a citizen of the Hungarian kingdom so the distinction is clearer. But of course sometimes its just impossible to know for sure and the ethnicity is unclear.
