The coming pogrom of AI and data scientists

I don’t care if you believe me or not but from the future where I come from, the luddites were right on this one Jow Forums...

The mass automation of jobs leaves millions of people unemployed.

Crime goes up dramatically and there are daily riots.

Universal Basic Income is implemented by governments worldwide but it fails to be effective because what’s the point of learning any new skills anymore if everything is automated?

The aftermath is extremely unpleasant. The liberal world order is replaced violently and most AI and data scientists are rounded up and shot.

But unfortunately, since most people can’t tell the difference, ordinary scientists and engineers are also rounded up and shot.

Only the scientists and engineers deemed by the state to be useful survive - mainly scientists from the hard sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, medicine) and engineering disciplines.

The newly appointed authoritarian governments ban net neutrality and make the internet pay per view in an attempt to prevent the existence of the open source communities that were partly responsible for the growth in AI research in the past.

Not surprinsgly, the world enters a technological dark age, and the AI monitoring tools are ironically used by the authoratarian governments themselves to serve their agendas.

So if you value your life and are planning to study or work in AI and data science any time soon....DON’T.

Does capitalism actually die at that point or do people still exchange money?

Why will capitalism die? Seems like an odd question.

Statistics Masters. And I hate this obsessive behaviour around AI/DS. It’s boring anyway even with deep learning as things get commoditised at AWS level after it leaves Google Reserach. Data prep and data wrangling used to be domain specific but are getting automated as well.

This should be read and re-read especially by new entrants. Data Science & Big Data (beyond repackaging classic data analysist jobs as Data Scientist) expertise without domain expertise (Biology, Finance, Product Design etc.), qualitative (small data & cognitive empathy around the small data if real humans are involved in the underlying process) understanding is often useless. Although some really talented (top 0.1%) AI experts have amazing abilities to create production-ready ML system (Watson’s probabilistic diagnostic system, for example) capable of beating domain experts, consider it as an exception. Your day job (in Industry unless you are a senior ML researcher in Microsoft Labs, for example) will mostly revolve around Data Engineering, more than Machine Learning. The “buzz” that you experience in media or in Pedro Domingo’s otherwise excellent book is purposefully crafted by recruiters, hype-builders and some ivory-tower academicians who often “choose” to not work for the Industry, in order to ensure sustainability of the supply-side volume. Without domain expertise and qualitative understanding, your role as Data Scientist can easily be (and soon will be) automated and commoditised. (Economics 101)

Fuck AI / DS.

Getting a CFA instead.

So the only problem is that people NEED a job and refuse to adapt to their environment? Tell the robots to shoot these people, they're just a burden.

You think any scientists will be allowed to live when we have AI who are far more proficient in those subjects?

>So the only problem is that people NEED a job and refuse to adapt to their environment?

No you don't understand. AI essentially renders MOST jobs useless. It doesn't matter how many skills you have, or how hard you work or who you know when a single AI is able to achieve far higher productivity and efficiency than all the Managers and Employees combined. Basically, only those at the top reap the most benefit. That is why universal basic income was implemented in my timeline and every was getting $20,000 a year. But this did not stop the high crime rates and daily riots. Believe it or not, work gives most people purpose in life.

The advances in self learning AI is so great that it pretty much collapses the entire higher education industry because of the insane amounts of efficiency. No more need for cheap labor by undergraduate and PhD grunts. The AI systems in place basically theorize what experiments to do and the senior scientists do the work and make rapid discoveries.

Can AI save someone from drowning, calm other normies down, admister first aid etc.? Until then Im safe

I see AR as being massive in the leisure industury, for all. From giving Lifeguards glasses that identify non swimmers to customers using it as exercise incentives, games and shit.

The USD will die because without a gov to back it its worthless. The gov will die because without tax paying citizens it has no revenue to pay its army. Without its use of force it has no power.

>Can AI save someone from drowning, calm other normies down, admister first aid etc.? Until then Im safe

YES... The advances in fuel cell technology make robots extremely power efficient that they are eventually mass produced at low cost. A $10,000 care robot with $1000/year maintenance service saves a company far more than a a $20,000 employed care worker.

Unless you're planning to move abroad to a war torn developing country, not even nursing and care jobs are safe in most western countries.

The USD will not "die", but evolve into a cryptocurrency. Since everyone would want to own a USD coin, there be a huge growth in mining. But since current mining computers use a lot of energy, there will be tremendous research into improving computers to become more energy efficient. This in part contributes to the advances in power efficiency and technology that lead to self learning AI systems applied on a global scale.

>work gives purpose to life
Again, please shoot the people who fail to adapt and find new meaning in their lives.

>Again, please shoot the people who fail to adapt and find new meaning in their lives.

So I guess you have no problem in seeing billions of people die?

Wew.

Just remember that its arrogant people like you who end up getting shot in my future.

Agreed. If your only purpose in life is to be a cog in a machine whats the point in living at all.

>USD will evolve into a crypto
Unlikely because crypto doesnt even scale. Not to mention its hard as fuck to use.

Not talking about nursing,
Im talking about managing a poolside reprimanding scruffs, not letting their children drown, tellingpedos to fuck off staring and attempting subtle photos, breaking up fights, stopping bullying, chatting to the old dear who only comes for the social, teaching kids how to swim.

I se a future where a robot could assist, in the lifesaving process and make the job much easier. But to carry out the job properly we'd need some I robot shit, and a receptive public. One that wouldn't just ignore the robot, tear it down like niggers.

I also think a claw type device could help, pull people out of the water, to poolside where a small machine administer first aid cpr etc.

When robots can trick humans and provide the customer service required then ill be worried.

thanks for dropping by and altering the timeline OP, for a second there I thought my work will get me killed. But now that you've made this post I'm sure we'll figure out how to keep the peasants under control.
t. AI and data scientist

You did but you still failed.

You actually thought UBI would work to pacify the masses but it didn’t

Why do you think there are so many riots in the future? It’s because some smug bastard cut the police and military budgets and replaced them with AI and robots that don’t need sick leave or maternity leave

Let me know when scientists and engineers figure out real-time, accurate spoken language translation. You know, the real difficult problems. Also, OP is a british cigarette.

>YES... The advances in fuel cell technology make robots extremely power efficient that they are eventually mass produced at low cost. A $10,000 care robot with $1000/year maintenance service saves a company far more than a a $20,000 employed care worker.
As someone working with state-of-the-art robots everyday I'm laughing at that delusion

Based fellow Data Scientist.

Thanks for the warning OP, I will make sure to defend myself properly.

What about quantitative finance? Is it in any danger?

>real time, accurate spoken language translation

The research in academia is decades behind to that of private groups.

Why are you laughing?

>Why are you laughing?
Because your very premise of cheap adaptive reliable robots is stupid, even with efficient energy cells. It really shows you never worked in the industry.

Socialism will eventually prevail when there is no work left. Ironic considering it's supposed to be a worker's movement.

robot cops wouldnt last a day. they will get gunned down and blown up left and right.

>Because your very premise of cheap adaptive reliable robots is stupid

Explain.

At least you can enjoy life...24/7 vanilla wow or some other VR RPG game...in between some fun with sex robots and throwing in some NASA food and DNA modification stuff to prevent aging. There is no need to work anymore once AI is fully implemented and running.

Robots are generally unreliable (wear and tear), need technicians to watch over continuously, need constant metrology to be sure they don't deviate from the norm, and so on. The only advantage of robots is that if you maintain them correctly the output product has very high quality standards.

And here I'm talking top of the line multi-millions dollars worth industrial robots.

fucking nice. will there be ethnostates? Can't wait to pop those libtard bratty know-it-all "scientists".

Ask Venezuela if they can find any toilet paper today.

Did Chainlink reach mass adoption, or hit 1000$ eoy

Abortion is introduced and promoted and promoted amongst the manual labouring classes ,lesbian and homosexuality are encouraged families are discouraged via taxes and family courts that penalise men. Less mob.
What's left are kept as pets, sex toys or servents
