The monorail seems to work very well in Japan. It has very irregular streets and intersection and lots of topographic relief.
Is Light Rail in the US just a horrible meme? I know a lot of cities around the world are getting rid of their shit Light Rail system now.
I live in Phoenix which has Light Rail and it is pretty shit. If you have a car, driving is a better option in literally every situation.

Been there. It's pretty aesthetic with the pipes and river flowing under it. Interesting fact: One time it was used to market a circus with a elephant inside it. The elephant fell off into the river, but survived.
