At first you may think this is pathetic but then if you think that if only a part of population that is with Irish heritage celebrates it then what do you expect others who not share it to do? Step at side and watch from afar, not participating in the fun?

If I were in US right now I would have go to celebrate with the others because it is fun, not because I have irish heritage.

>you can't celebrate a holiday unless you're X

This triggers the non-American.

It's a fucking retarded holiday anyway, really what are the Irish even celebrating, some kind of leprechaun and coins or something

it's for everyone

>expecting american neckbeards to have friends to go out to drink with
user do you know where you are?

Wow, qt

Cultural appropriation, stereotyping the Irish as drunkards. Isn’t this the sort of thing leftists would cry about?
Oh wait, they don’t, because the Irish are white.

WE WUZ IRISH N SHEEEEEEEIT

>Steve (((Rubenstein)))

Non-Irish acknowledging St.Patrick's Day is a good thing. Being Irish on St.Patrick's Day is like being the guy whose party it is - it means we get laid easier by non-Irish

Tell me about Montreal's vibrant Irish community

you are correct but you sound too normie. this board is full of incels and social outcasts so any holiday is retarded to them

>who almost never fuck
I thought their stereotype was that they bred like rabbits.

That's Catholics in general not Irish.

This was written by PJ O'Rourke wasn't it

if there was a shitposting school, whoever wrote this should teach a master class. that's banter that is actually funny and lighthearted unlike most shit posted on here.

It's strange how much a small, unaccomplished and irrelevant country like Ireland gets obsessed over in the US.

The Irish built the US, you fucking bong.

Like you don't have huge parades all over the UK?

Nice cope. You're not getting puss today.

cope
the UK is irrelevant

Lay off our women

My last name is O'Malley am I Irish enough to be allowed to have fun, oh great third worlders of knowledge?

No they didn't. That's like believing black people made America a superpower because they picked cotton.

no

Irish are a significant proportion of our population unlike in the US,

cute

It's true though, Irish and Germans built the US. If it weren't for Irish, the railroad across the country never would have been built.

thats hardly saying much considering how underdeveloped your rail and public transport infrastructure is

Attached: 53df51e3a21d62434595e43e2bd0447c.jpg (1109x1170, 613K)

I live in Mick central here It's shitty. I wish the potato famine actually happened

Chinese people built the Western half of the railroads. Unskilled labor is interchangeable anyway. If Irish didn't build railroads, they would have hired more Chinese people or blacks.

uhhh

>be me
>white hispanic mutt ,
>half irish, quarter Italian, quarter Spanish, bilingual
>have twice removed family in Ireland I see visit sometimes in the states
>Have nothing in common with them beyond family ties and drinking habits
Irish diaspora behave how Jews outside of Israel act desu. They wave their flags and talk about their homeland but really have nothing in common with the people in their homeland.

Attached: 1435835671840.png (275x200, 22K)

I have no idea what you're trying to convey with this image.

I wouldn't expect some bumfuck living on a tiny island to understand how big of a deal a railway across the country was. Most of the country was still wilderness and it's much much larger than your island.
They couldn't use blacks because they were too valuable. Tons of people died building it. They couldn't use Chinese since they had no trains running to the west coast (obviously)

china has a better public transport infrastructure than the US does and theyre an even bigger country, besides youre a super power, whats your excuse

What? why did you remove them?? what does that even mean?

50 years from now, everyone will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo and Mexican-Americans will claim they built America.

get that citizenship, gayboi

>Starter pack ad hominems
The Civil War was due to sectionalist tensions that dates back the creation of the Articles of Confederation. Slavery was just one issue cited by the CSA in their ordinances and declarations of secession. Any historian who tries to boil down a civil war which killed over 600,000 people to a single factor is beyond a brainlet.

Attached: tn_1235245586270.jpg (220x180, 8K)

But we did. A huge part of America is mexican rightful clay.

Slavery was the predominant issue.

You're a racist guilty of wrong think therefore your opinion is invalid.

People in the USA are against government spending. In addition state powers are spread out so only the federal government could do most major infrastructure projects, but since it isn't a totalitarian top down system like China it is hard to get things done.

nice try. it is actually the opposite. other 'issues' have been consistently exaggerated by the southern revisionists. but it was all about slavery.

>People in the USA are against government spending.

Not really. The USA's government spending as a percentage of GDP is slightly lower than Western Europe's, comparable to Canada's and higher than most of the world.

i'd be flattered anyone would celebrate an irrelevant nation and saint

anyway its about the booze

B O O M E R

I'd probably argue it was industrialization concentrating in the North, slavery, and geographical distance producing two completely unlike cultures (Jeffersonian influences vs Federalist influences) were the main factors in the civil war. Also Lincoln being extremely incompetent in his handling of Ft Sumter and the influence of the Haitian Revolution on racialism in the United States. Abolitionism was just one among those issues my man. It's a lot more complicated than the average people sperging out about it online realizes.

It's like trying to say that the Russian Civil War was over monarchy. It's just a gross oversimplification.

Progressive revisionists over the civil war was a major issue during reconstruction, then again during the Civil Rights era.
>Nice try
Not trying anything I'm just telling you that the civil war was no over just slavery. That was a major factor, sure, but it's a gross oversimplification.

Cannot believe how positively booty blasted Jow Forums gets about shit like this. We all get drunk on cinco de mayo and wear sombreros even though yurotards would never accuse us of wanting to be mexican. It's a source of pride for a small subset of the country but more importantly an excuse to drink and have fun

Attached: 1544886553989.jpg (640x800, 69K)

Zoomer actually

>Progressive revisionists over the civil war was a major issue during reconstruction
This makes no sense. Progressivism is 20th century ideology.

Imagine being so autistic you can actually be angry about people getting drunk, dancing, eating, brawling, hooking up, and celebrating Ireland

The South didn't industrialize because of slavery. The South developed a distinct culture because of slavery. The Haitian Revolution scared the shit out of the South because they owned slaves.

The progressive era begins in the 1890's after the gilded age my man
>Inb4 semantical autism of who were the "true" progressives

>The Reconstruction era was the period from 1863 to 1877 in American history.

Cinco de Mayo is becoming a bigger thing in Burgerstan too. Sure we think it’s Mexican 4th of July but #YOLO.

You guys know that St. Patrick himself wasn't even Irish?

who was he? a leprechaun?

>The South didn't industrialize because of slavery
Slavery began industrializing itself , as the invention of the cotton gin kind of proves. Industry concentrated in the North due to increased proximity to Europe , higher general population density, and easier access to steel (think Pennsylvania)
>The south developed a distinct culture because of slavery
So you're just going to ignore the entire period of the Articles of Federation, Jeffersonian, First and Second Great Awakenings, and all of that?
>Haitian Revolution made plantation owners fearful
And abolitionists fire eyed - leading to increased dehumanization required for a civil war

Why do Englishmen seem so jelly of St. Paddy’s festivities?

MUH HERITAGE

is there racism in ireland towards the leprechauns? always wondered about that.

t. muh incel social outcasts

As opposed to fapping alone to hentai this fine Sunday?

They founded America only to get ethnicity cucked by their old bully victim Ireland. Not to mention the Germany and Italy

Oh, meant to say after Reconstruction. My bad. People tend to have this view of history being a complete picture that people change at a whim, which is why revisionism has negative connotations to it.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. People tend to confuse all revisionism - the process of re-examining a historical narrative or perspective - with propoganda. The history of Rome has been revised dozens of times for example - history is always an incomplete picture.

Why would an Englishmen care what happens to literal traitors? They're gone forever and soon the Irish/Germans/Italians that replaced them will be gone and replaced by Mexicans.. and then the cycle will continue on and on and on.

Yeah but nobody is celebrating St. Georgie’s Day

I will MICK an American girl

All hail big celt cock

Why would you celebrate St George's day? It isn't even a thing in England.

My point exactly

based st. patrick btfo the druids who performed human sacrifice

This is true but progressive cucks have changed it to just be about slavery. Republicans and conservatives like to bitch about big government now but the federal government started to gain power back when they won the civil war. I'm not white btw.

Why yes I am too Black Irish (but the Spanish-Nordic-Irish kind)

What point?

finally a good one

That's what you think. When you start telling her a grower not a shower, she'll be running for the door.

Cinco de Mayo is a shit holliday though. March 17 is filled with Joy. May 5 is filled with try hards.

It's a Catholic holiday not an Irish holiday

It’s more about getting drunk and having fun than actually larping Irish heritage. I imagine that majority of the people here who celebrate it don’t even have Irish ancestry.

Why can’t people just lighten up? Majority of Christians don’t get butthurt when non-Christians celebrate their holiday.

reeeeeeee i am a little bitch and why doesnt everyone focus on a menial thing that nobody is affected by so i can focus on fucking with minorities
>probably bc most everyone in the us is irish and being silly and drunk isnt necessarily a bad thing

Based.
