This is actually a very interesting topic. You see, languages can actually be very creative when it comes to curse words and from which area they actually derive.

Most languages tend to be either anal-fixated like German for example that mainly uses curse words that are related to excrements and everything that comes with them(shit, asshole, etc.) OR more on the sexual side like English (fuck, whore, dickhead, etc.). There are also some languages that are using illnesses and pests for cursing like Dutch (cancer, tuberculosis,..). One of the most bizarre examples is probably Canadian French that has swear words that are basically just ecclesial and religious objects like tabernacle and host(altar bread). The predominant swear words of a language are often a mirror of the primary taboo subjects of a (historical) society in which they manifested themselves.

In the Netherlands we like to curse each other with death by horrible diseases. Which is pretty amusing.

I think I always forget because the use of the words is so far gone from their original meaning - calling someone a spastic doesn't necessarily mean you think they resemble an actual spastic
