Well, I was screwed over psychologically because of the showering after gym classes to the point where I literally wanted to just die. I'd go as far as to say that it single-handedly ruined my childhood and the bad experiences I had probably affect me to this day.

That being said, I was an edge case. Perhaps 99% of the kids are fine with it, but I'd argue that there's at least some sense in not making kids shower.
