Why are Americans so infatuated with debt?

imagine going into a bar and buying a coffee with credit card

Do you not have bar tabs in European countries?

Yeah, fuck other countries where the economy is not based in massive personal and institutional debt where you cannot get in debt at your local thrift store

>you have to go into debt with a credit card

>Boast about debt

A credit card literally is debt. You buy and owe money to the card company.

>there a "countries" browsing Jow Forums right now that prefeers credit over debit bc their bank gives them good goy points for spending money they dont have.

>be European
>use debt card instead
Really activates my almonds

Do Americans really swipe their cards?

And you pay no interest if you pay it off in full every month.

The average cardholder is a fucking idiot who doesn't do that though, that's how credit cards make money.

I just got an email from my credit card saying they'd pay me to use my card. It's literally free money if you're smart enough to pay it in full each month.

It's called a debit card

>Think plastic card with 1s and 0s on it has any real value other then the fact that a few people (who will not be named) conned you into thinking it does

YIKES

>be american

>shure, that was one coffe sir
>pay with credit card
>tip

>tfw your debit card is still under your mothers account
>she can still see all the things you're buying
Feels bad but I don't want to leave their credit union

No you have to insert the chip these days

I have one of those accounts that don't charge you a maintenance fee.

I get paid, pay my bills and then retire all the cash, fuck banks.

I will keep using cash as much as I can even if zoomers laugh at me thank you very much

This, in the US many credit cards will just get you free money if you just use it like a debit card and pay it off right away. Also it is a little safer than it a debit card is stolen because they would be using bank money and not your own money, and those fraudulent charges will just be cancelled. Other countries just must get jewd and not given those cashback bonuses i guess

>be American
>use weak and insecure magnetic strip cards instead of cryptographically secure ISO 7816 EMV-Contactless cards

Civilised people like me do it

Thiiiiiissssss

Is just so you don't have to run around with paper on your pockets. Highly convenient.

for every 12.5k I put on my cc I get one free flight in canada
what's odd is it's just one flight, so something short like toronto-montreal or very long like st john's-vancouver ends up being the same cost

Once I bought yeast for 0,09 Euro with y credit card

I regularly buy a donut for 0,49 Euro with a credit card

I basically make all my purchases either by credit card or online banking

>something short like toronto-montreal or very long like st john's-vancouver
don't know where any of these shitholes are located except for Vancouver

>Also it is a little safer than it a debit card is stolen because they would be using bank money and not your own money
only if they can guess the 4 digit pin in 3 tries. And if that happens you just go to the bank after reporting to the police and they get you your money back

your pin works online?

you can pay with a credit card without needing to use the PIN, if you use the magnetic stripe you just have to sign
if it's a

I was talking about the debit card
yes, theres an app that every bank here uses where you can create virtual credit cards where you choose the amount you want. Its safer than regular credit cards
