how do I learn to code if I’m a brainlet who knows nothing about coding

Watch Indians doing shitty youtube tutorials

What kinds of problems and projects should I focus on messing around with in my free time for maximum employability down the line?

read SICP

Get an internship.

I have a full time job as an engineer.

whats that

Anything but properly

>GUI
>variables
>functions

Something that will tax your mind and give you a lisp

user, you're gonna have to learn how to look things up yourself if you wanna survive as a programmer

Then why do you ask these retarded questions?

>random mating population
>linkage disequilibrium
>genetic drift
>neutral variation
>missense mutation
>haplotype

Because I am not a software engineer of any kind, slowfriend (though I do enough coding). I want to switch tracks. I want to know what's the best stuff to learn before quitting my job and starting over from scratch.

Any good video series teaching programming? Books on the subject are really dry and dull.

>I want to switch tracks
To what, "fast friend"? Web, embedded, enterprise, CRUD monkey, site reliability, devops, cybersec and ten dozen others all require different skills.
>what's the best stuff
You sound like an underage brainlet, not someone who actually has any job.

>there is a new framework from Apache

Programming is fun
But being a codemonkey 8 hours a day? haha no

there's too much shit to narrow it down to something general, I suggest you do morr research on what kind of programming jobs there are, find what seems most interesting or w/e, then ask questions on how to get into it

If you happen to be interested in learning something only when it’s through non-print materials then I guarantee that you’re going to be shit at it anyways.

I'd look into patterns in general and architectures of certain topics like web, SOA, ERP, dunno what you want to do.

wtf pretty sure that makes you a hacker bud

>To what, "fast friend"? Web, embedded, enterprise, CRUD monkey, site reliability, devops, cybersec and ten dozen others all require different skills.
Yeah, exactly. That's why I am asking. What career tracks are the best job availability/pay wise and what skills are required for them.

I like the Derek Banas videos youtube.com/user/derekbanas

Sounds about right

What kind of jobs do you do?

Software Engineering

very clever.

this, derek seems ok but you really should only use videos at the very start, they won't do you much good later on
I'm supposed to be .NET software dev, so making web applications / web apis in .NET

Based

And what do you think of your career track? How's the pay? Is there a surplus or shortage of potential employees? Is it hard to get into?

holy fucking based

>read the documentation

You just turned me on

Beats every other office job.

Pick a programming language. Download a book on it. Learn how to make some basic stuff on it. Watch or read tutorials on how to do stuff like simple two choice programs. Finally, chop your dick off and go on HRT (or don't).

W3C
XHTML

>what do you think of your career track
well I do almost none of it at my job so I can't tell, but even thinking about it makes me want to kill myself. .NET and Java are heavily enterprise oriented so if that's not your thing I'd avoid it

Point still stands.

Why would you get the surgery before going on HRT?

Just released my game on the play store lads. Made entirely in Unity, a nice comfy Platformer game where you play as a comfy tomboy chick :) feelsgoodman aha

Anybody who knows how to code, but doesn't know about quantum physics, general and special relativity, abstract algebra, and Deleuzian process metaphysics is just a technician.

yea, no

Yeah, yeah.

>.NET

Your life is probably bland, boring and bleak. Why not use some flavour of the month JavaScript frameworks? At least js or typescript is fun to write.

because I already fucked myself over and now I have to suffer

>js is fun to write
>why not use fotm that nobody will maintain in 6 months
Pajeets should be prohibited to code by law.

At this point, I really fucking hate programming. The job prospects might be good, but the social isolation and lack of physical activity is really draining my mental state. I'm seriously considering quitting my master's program and doing something else, despite having 2 CS internships under my belt

wish I've done the same

>the social isolation and lack of physical activity
It's literally identical to any back-office job in those regards, probably even more social if you work by some soygile model.

>Why yes, I taught myself coding. How could you tell?

coding is so painfully boring how do people choose to do it as a job
