Americans: Is there something interesting to do or see in Las Vegas? My family decided to travel to Las Vegas this summer, but they're a bunch of normies and I'm a nerd. I'm not really interested in gambling, alcohol or sex for a trip. Are there any cultural or natural sight close?
no, Vegas is a plastic desert shithole where most of the >american urban planning meme pictures are taken. There is no history, it was all invented in the 1950s

The desert is really nice to drive through if you're into that. There are some interesting museums off the strip (the Atomic Museum and Natural History Museum are strange and have some charm to them). There's also things like the Hoover Dam, again if you're into that sort of thing.
If you're on the strip there's more than just gambling and drinking. Excalibur (and Circus Circus but I hate that place) have fun arcades, if you feeling like acting like a kid. There's an art museum in the Bellagio, I believe, and some galleries in others that can be nice to walk through. There's a zoo/aquarium at the Mandalay Bay that's nice, there's a komodo dragon there you can look at up close.

Isn't the Hoover Dam nearby? A tour of that would be cool

There's plenty of hiking trails nears Vegas and there's also zion national park if you're willing to make the trip
Joseph Rogers
I hear they have some very good restaurants

The Grand Canyon is a two hour drive from Las Vegas
Sebastian Young
It's more like 4 hours if you want to get to the park side

Vegas has good gun ranges and steak houses. The entertainment is kind of a meme, most of the shows there are only enjoyable if you're on psychedelic drugs.

The only reason i'd go is for brothels desu

The restaurants, the Hoover dam and the Zion National Park sound nice. What about Reno? Is it nice? I've heard that there are forests in Northern Nevada.

Just relax and enjoy Vegas for what it is

A typical suburban home not far from the Vegas strip
It's a family trip and I want to spend time with them since we all live in different cities during the year, I wanted to visit Washington DC but the rest of the family decided to go to Las Vegas lol

You’re not basing your travel plans entirely off of what locations have been in fallout games, are you?
I bet the stones are just plastic panels/elements and the whole place looks like an Overwatch map anyways. Why does everything have to be so tacky and ridiculous there? Whenever I see someone giving a tour in ther "mansion" it looks like everything is made of plastic, plaster and vinyl stickers.
That just makes is sadder and LARPier. How can you spend so much on the building materials and still manage to build something that distasteful and cheap looking. If I'd drive past something like that I'd never believe it ws made from anything fancier than plywood and ceramic tiles. I know you can build decent houses as well so it really boggles my mind why so many still prefer pompous trash like in your pic?
I had hoped it had something to do with new/inherited money and reckless spending on tasteless stuff to compansate for lack of personality or something.
Where is that house anyway? It looks like it could be an extension to some theme park.
Pic related has way more dignity while remaining very quinessentially american looking. Still not something that I'd prefer if I had all the options available but at least I'd expect a sensible man to inhabit pic related unlike the circus I'd expect to parade out of
>“We would have Halloween parties and people loved coming to our house,” Miller remembered. “It always got a lot of attention on Halloween.” Ah, so it actually is just a theme park extension. I feel a bit relieved yet still disgusted, why would anyone want to live in one?

You should go camping in the desert instead.

when i was a kid i went there with my parents, the 3 story tall Coke/ M&M's store was awesome, and the basement was a giant videogame arcade that was incredible redrock canyon about 12 minutes outside of the city is really great to visit and climb around on too
but this was 15 years ago, so no idea if the store is still there
