Chainlink: Is this a serious project?

Not sure if Chainlink is a serious project. Spent most of my time avoiding coins talked about ad nausem, but came across a few items which caught my attention.
I want to know if Chainlink is a serious project? If so, what's an appropriate insurance stack (how many LINK would I need to acquire)?

Follow-up question(s):
If you believe Chainlink holds promise within the crypto-markets (and the greater financial/tech sectors), why? What evidence convinced you? In other words, what was the tipping point for you?

There's a great deal of noise here in Jow Forums and its hard to decipher legitimate info versus noise.

1000 link is currently nsidered suicide insurance

10000 is considered comfy

Anything over that is a bonus. No one really knows how much it will be worth. Could 100 dollars, could be 1000.

Read the whitepaper

When dumb fucks come on here expecting to be spoonfed the results of months of research, you know that bull times are coming soon.

It’s a meme shilled by pajeets. Blockchain has real applications. This isn’t one of them

Look, I just want to know the major things to be looking out for as it relates to Chainlink. The project is highly complicated and Im having some trouble really wrapping my mind about it.

I've tried to do that, but I dont have a computer science background.

it is a scam pretty much a biz inside joke to fuck brainlets over
literal news reports of the CEO meeting with Taiwanese prostitutes

I would be extremely surprised if LINK is over $3 in May 2020.

It's a meme token shilled as a joke on newfags. Maybe buy some if you're worried that perhaps the jokes are real, but I wouldn't. There's some great projects talked about on here. Link is not one of them.

I would be extremely surprised if it still exists then

Thanks for contributing nothing, but totally asking for handouts...really convinces me to give you information and market knowledge ive gathered over the last few years of research and trading

>kill yourself bro

If you guys talk so negatively about it, why not just ignore the project? Why is it shilled and fud's simultaneously? So confusing.

Any urls you could throw my way? I learn fast.

Just think about it. Why is LINK the no.3 crypto on Jow Forums after BTC and ETH?
Either this board is filled with delusional drunk junkies or we are all going to be rich.

>Why is LINK the no.3 crypto on Jow Forums after BTC and ETH?
because of a few discord groups who have been shilling it non-stop for a year

I've been on Jow Forums for a year now. I've read everything posted about LINK. All the LINK info posts are exceptionally eloquent and supported by sources, although extremely speculative. All the LINK fud have been incoherent and completely baseless.
Besides you can see they are posting updates everyday on Github. Theses are my reasons for being all in LINK.

The market of decentralization is moving very quickly into the area of institutional money. Smart money is very curious but are not going to pull the trigger just yet, because lack of regulations but overall limited uses. You aren't going to convince Fidelity Labs to invest in you random shitcoin #265 because it has faster transaction speeds or multi-algorithm mining. They don't really care too much about investing into cryptocurrencies as a commodity.

The one section of the decentralization market that does show promise to these large financial institutions is the idea behind "smart contracts". A smart contract is a computer protocol that automatically executes negotiable agreements of a contract without the need of a third party. If you think of the use case behind an automatically executing financial contract, you will be loss in an endless loop. It has the ability to save billions on smart contract-powered stocks and bonds.

But its not that simple. For example: Company A has a smart contract set to self execute a payment when Company B delivers a certain amount of oil. The smart contract currently has no way of knowing when/if the oil is even delivered to Company A. A smart contract has no use case outside of what information is available on chain. This is "the oracle problem", the oracle being a provider of information.

Chainlink is one of many companies tackling the oracle problem, so smart contracts have a use case beyond sending tokens. What differentiates Chainlink from its competitors is the idea behind its decentralized oracle solution i.e a network of nodes acting as an oracle. Sergey Nazarov would make the argument that a smart contract, being trustless in nature, would need a system of decentralized oracles to stay trustless, as a single oracle is a point of failure because now the trust lies on that single oracle. It is very exciting technology and Jow Forums cannot stop talking about it. For good reason.
