Did you wake up in America?

i go back to sleep since someone else is doing everything for me

cool building

this but unironically

We already wake up everyday in a socialist country, user. Capitalism gives us the illusion we can all get rich and escape the system.

>socialism is when the workers own stuff instead of stuff being privately owned
what does this even mean? im a brainlet, it flies right over my head, i dont get it

>what does this even mean?
The means of production are just that: the means that are needed to produce something.

In a capitalist society, private property rights are king. What this means is that you are entitled to whatever you can buy or acquire. This means that it's possible for a person to own the means of production but not be a worker. He could for example be the owner of a steel mill who owns all the machines to produce steel, buys all the iron ore needed to make the steel but hires workers to turn the ore (and other resources) into steel for him. The capitalist idea is that both sides benefit as long as the worker's contract is based on free negotiations between the two parties.

In socialist thought this is unfair. The worker works, but he does not own the means of production. The communist will say that his wage is not at a fair rate and the worker is entitled to the profits in a degree proportionate to his labor (whereas in a capitalist society all the profits disappear into the pockety of the factory owner, after paying out the wages to the workers of course). They believe that the workers should overthrow the capitalist pig who owns the factory and take possession of the means of production (the factory and all the machines therein) for themselves. This can take on various forms, from the workers becoming collective owners of their factories to the state (at least on paper representing the people) nationalizing the factory and employing all of its workers.

Though like I said, that "workers own the means of production" model can take on many different froms, from syndicalism to "market socialism" to totalitarian Maoist socialism, to even "socialism with Chinese characteristics" (which is just capitalism but you call it socialism). It gets even more blurry when you consider that socialists will cry "not real socialism" the moment one of their systems fails.

Instead of the workers being just workers who are paid for their labour and that's it and the company being owned by shareholders over in wherever, the workers actually are the owners and decide between them the wages, how many hours you have to work and in general how to run the factory.

ok so if i get this right, it would be theoretically possible to run a communist corporation?

if so many ppl think this is the right way to go, why not register some sort of a corporation where all the shares are held by the workers, and all the workers attend the board of directors and executives? if workers are the shareholders and board execs... would that corporation be a literal communist corporation? and if this is possible there's nothing wrong with liberal capitalism at the same time?

Not only is it possible, some Americans have actually tried it. Of course it went bankrupt because it's a retarded system.

Same deal for a "fair wage" pizza shop (also in America).

What a surprise, huh? If you overpay your staff, it means you have to calculate those costs to the consumer by raising prices. Which means your pizza's will become far more expensive than those of competitors who pay their employees a (lower) wage conform to the market.

Also notice this little gem.
>“I like coming to work. It was kind of a shock,” said Royce Terrell, 55, a Dorchester resident who has worked at the restaurant for nearly a year. “I didn’t see it coming. I have to keep working. I’ve got my youngest son in private school.”
A pizza chef was sending her son to a fancy private school. That alone should tell you to what ridiculous degree she was being overpaid.

tl;dr: You can try, if you enjoy losing money.

>beijing
>being able to see the sky
>being able to see 5 feet in front of you
Wanna know how I know this is fake?

yeah but a thousand screaming fanatics cant be all wrong, right? i mean why is this socialism thingie gaining such traction and popularity if its wrong?

its everyday bro

Not even a communist but Mondragón Corporation is still going.

>i mean why is this socialism thingie gaining such traction and popularity if its wrong?
Because the promise of free shit will always attract people, even if it means they'll be eating out of the garbage in ten years.

Politics aren't that simple or black and white. And much of the shit people call socialism, especially in American or Americanized language has nothing to do with socialism.

yeah, i walk away from this thinking capitalism = socialism

capitalism according to capitalists is all about starting your own business
if you are starting your own business and working your own business, that is quite literally textbook definition socialism
so basically, our neoliberal capitalist societies of self employed private contractors IS socialism

when a dentist opens up a practice its socialism, when a pizza guy opens up a 1 man pizza shop its socialism, when a plumber carries his toolbag he is literally owning the means of production etc

burgerland is in self conflict about having to either serve the rich as modern serfs or start hanging the likes of elon musk

Wow, home. Huh, seems nothing has changed.

How can China be both socialist and higher consumerist? The birthplace of communism in China is literally a gift shop

Nah

It would be cool if it wasn't for the faggy superstitious shit behind it.
