Living in Québec is weird. Nobody is proud of being Canadian here. Instead people are proud to be Québecois. Nobody flies the Canadian flag, but Québec flags can be seen flying all over the place. There's such a dissociation with the country we're actually in on so many levels.

Is there any other places in the world like this? Provinces or states that just don't connect or fit with the country they're in?

Fennoswedes in Finland have their weird loyalty cultures. They have quite a few cultural ties to Sweden, but still consider themselves Finns, which Finnish speaking Finns don't care for.

Where do you live, precisely?

Some parts of Texas are like that. Not all of it though. Hong Kong and Taiwan for Asian countries. I've heard the Basque Country in Spain is like that but I don't really know if that's true.

Yucatán.
