I'm glad they got put down. Well, not the children (who were brainwashed and occasionally impregnated by their leader). We can sweat the small stuff, whether they should have been given a day or two more of negotiating, but basically going in hard was perfectly justifiable.

it was people who were as likeminded as david koresh that made the american revolution possible. without that conviction possessed by david koresh and similiar figures throughout history, we would not have progressed as a civilisation. he may have haboured some religious delusions, and his worldview was reliant on this theological beliefs yet since we disagree does not make him wrong (i disagree with his extreme christian beliefs yet i understand his standpoint). these do not serve as grounds for ostracization or an oppression of his beliefs; the media circus surrounding the branch davidians was pure propaganda, mischaracterising david and all the members as lunatics. would it not make sense for them to want to leave a world that rejected them? also, they didn't refuse the search, koresh pleaded with the ATF upon their arrival to which they responded with firing upon the building. koresh did allow people to leave, but the people inside the compound had such a strong faith and commitment to their beliefs that they refused to leave, it was their choice to stay.
the children abuse stuff was a scandal started by local media outlets, there was no weight to those claims.
