Congratulations. Don't buy into the memes too hard. There are plenty of intelligent, humble dudes who take the military route. There's nothing wrong with it, it's a good way to gain experience and there's plenty of financial incentive as well. Don't assume that everyone fits under one description.
It's a good way out of poverty but I'm not going to deify some welfare queens who just wanted free college. My step sister double dipped with chair force then reserves to get paid more and got free college from it as well. But she did it to run away from her weird body issues and meth she was eating to lose weight.
