Church is all about shared emotions, feeding off of each other's energy and amplifying it. Imagine the group mentality you get from going to a sports event but make it philosophical and deeply emotional. I imagine that the larger the event, the more powerful the experience would be for the people attending, but it really does look retarded when you watch people literally climaxing in their seat when the preacher is spouting nonsense

The cathedrals of the old were dedicated to the saints who suffered while trying to spread the good word of the gospel. Today's cathedrals *cough, cough* stadiums are dedicated to spreading the good news of all of the past glories of the Vikings football team. The body and blood of Christ are not bread and wine, but popcorn and beer. Hey, how about some totally not kosher hot dogs?
