There's no real stereotypes or opinion on catholics themselves, they're treated fine. Catholic (private) schools are very common and many people send their kids to them.

However, the church and priests are views as pedos and pedo defenders (because they are). We just had the former archbishop of Melbourne (and treasurer of the vatican, the third highest bishop in the world), George Pell, be convicted of molesting a couple of boys 25 years ago.
