No, more dutch.

The majority is Dutch speaking but the capital is mostly French speaking but it is surrounded by a Dutch speaking province. It’s complicated.

No wonder you’re without culture

Dutch. w*Len are fr*Nchoid invaders and should be gassed, to be desu.

They have like 3,5 million French speakers and 6,5 million Dutch speakers.

Not sure why they don't just join the Netherlands. If they would join the Netherlands our country would have 23,5 million Dutch speakers and 3,5 million French speakers. So French would lose the language war instantly.

i didnt know that glassing eachother at the pub is culture too

Lmao imagine being a dutchoid

Compromise is a beautiful thing isn’t it, it is always the wisest option and will definitely not just kick the problems further down the road.

Frisians, Limburgers and Papiamento speakers (and English speakers on some Islands) also speak their own language in the Netherlands. They just can't do it when they talk to normal Dutch people. Then they have to switch to Dutch.

imagine being a gay frenchoid🏳️

Friendly reminder that the entirety of Belgium is rightful french clay.

based

How is that even possible, when France is named after a Dutch and Belgian Germanic tribe?

Big if true

It is true, most of France was founded by Karel de Grote, a Dutch king.

The Francs don't have anything to do with modern Dutch or Flemish

Russia was also inspired by a Dutch flag and people

That makes no sense at all since the Franks are the most dominant group of people in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium.

Then let Wallonia join us.

The Salian Franks were formed by a mix of Batavians and German Franks, who settled in the Netherlands. And then moved south to Belgium and took over your place.

You can also have Brussels. Just don't tell the Belgians.

Attached: 50a.jpg (470x595, 201K)

The french part would never have that and would probably secede
Which would be completely fine by me if it wasn't for the awkward Brussels situation
Although, as far as I'm concetned, they can have that too. They could maybe leave the part around the atomium for us in exchange for the few towns south of Brussels that are in Flanders
We avoid having an exclave and everyone is happy

Are you retarded?
Dutch are literally Franks

How would you fuse the Dutch and French languages? Would it just end up looking like English?

Dunno what they are, but honestly I'd love it if the Netherlands annexed Belgium and put the entire population into concentration camps or something.

Something similar already exists. It's called Walloon. Lots of Dutch loanwords, but it's in the same language family as French.

Flemish people don't speak dutch. There's a dozen dialects of bastardised dutch spoken throughout Flanders.

For some reason people in the Netherlands use more French, German and English words than Flemish people.

Best scenarios for Flanders, best to worst
>1) the whole of belgium merges with thd netherlands (luxemburg can join too)
>2) flanders secedes and joins the netherlands + some territorry swaps around brussels
> 3) things stay as they are now
> 4) flanders secedes and becomes independent without joining the netherlands

There's a dozen of dialects spoken throughout the Netherlands too but they all (besides some older generations) speak Dutch too. Don't really care if you call it Dutch or Flemish but I can perfectly communicate with most Flemish belgoids I meet.

The biggest issue is how regionalistic Belgians are. While Dutch people don't care about such things at all. Which will surely cause some conflict.

Stop pretending that you don't like us.

EXTREMELY BASED

if 1 Belgium become waffle

Hence, they're called dialects
Dialects of Dutch

Delightfully devilish

Nothing in Europe is rightfully German. Except maybe Poland.

what do you think culture is?, i swear its like when poms say shakespear is their culture and not chavs and football hooliganism

Well, I learned proper dutch at school and I can't understand half of them. What's even worse, outside of cities, they can't understand me when I speak dutch.

That is not true, we have Limburgers and Frisians as the best examples but there are other regions which are very much focused on themselves first and the Netherlands second. Flanders would definitely be the biggest region with the most differences though.

what is Communauté germanophone

that is because you either went to antwerp or the belgoids put in effort to make themselves understandable

cus our upper classes spoke french

Most Belgians including me just care about their bottom line and not some nationalistic bigger picture. The reality is if we see evidence that the whole communautarian drama is impacting our wallet we get upset but for the most part we don’t care. Most Flemings rarely interact with Walloons and vice versa.

a meme

>Not sure why they don't just join France. If they would join France our country would have 69, 5 million French speakers and 6,5 million Dutch speakers. So Dutch would lose the language war instantly.

Perhaps that's true, I live in Maastricht and most Belgians I meet come from right across the border, Antwerp, or Ghent. But to say Flemish don't speak Dutch still feels like a bit of an overstatement.

Is that Flemish?

you would not understand me and my family at dinner
what do you call that

I think it's a Brabants dialect, which they speak in the south of the Netherlands and Belgium. It's actually a Dutch song.

It’s bullshit that’s what. Every Fleming educated on at least a basic level here still learns ABN and can at least write it without issue.

There is no such thing as Flemish. It's all in the Belgianoids heads.

That you have a strong regional accent/dialect. Limburgers can speak compete gibberish among themselves too depending on the region but that doesn't mean they don't speak Dutch.

Belgians are Belgian and it should stay as it is (with more independence for the regions).

Dutch Limburgers can have a strong dialect as well. You can call it a different language or a dialect, but I think most consider it a dialect.

But it's not really unique to Belgium.

Look at history, at some point they were part of france/netherlands respectively and always seceded, it's just a mish mash of every neighbourhing countries+extreme love for beer/fries/chocolate

i wish we were french

Thank God we are not French

no you don't, their country is 100x more corrupt and ellitist than here

I wish we were not a failed democracy.

The Benelux could also just all switch to Frisian. It would be an improvement.

Yes, Belgium is a real country and history. Wallonia is the legacy of Belgae, named after local Celt tribes. Don't believe in Reddit-tier memes.

>part of the roman empire, while we are still free
>part of the Holy Roman Empire, while we are already free
>part of Spain, while we are already free
>part of France, when we are still free
>leave the Netherlands to become the playing field of all European powers
What did they mean by this?

Your country should be reformed. Joining us would make you lose Wallonia & Brussels to Africa. The concept of a free Belgium has been a thing since 1790 already.

Attached: img-1-small580.jpg (435x580, 223K)

>participate in WW1, while the Netherlands is a neutral bystander
Why did Belgium do this?

>eave the Netherlands to become the playing field of all European powers
I think the main reason is that they considered themselves as flem or walloon, never dutch

>The Netherlands conquers the UK, colonizes New York, The Carribean, South America, parts of Brazil, South Africa, parts of India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia, and has strong ties with Japan
>Belgium goes to Congo
What did Belgium mean by this?

what do belgians think about germany? do they even care about germany?

we do, Hans

i have a question: how do you know what langauge to speak with other belgians? i mean they could be from the french or dutch speaking region and you wouldnt know

It's simple. The Dutch speakers, who form the majority, are able to speak French. While the French speakers are too dumb to speak English or Dutch.

If you start speaking french to a fleming, you'll notice a slight feeling of butthurt and crying red eyes
talk flemish to a walloon and he will talk to a pigeon instead

wish we could turn back time
to the good old days
When we were semi relevant.

Stop spreading bullshit, I live near the border and they barely can hold a convo in french, actual perfectly bilingual people are rare on average

Beter ten halve gekeerd dan ten hele gedwaald.

The Netherlands means The Low Countries. Which is the Benelux. So it's still possible for the low countries to unite again.

Attached: 1546822308444.png (727x682, 168K)

Depends, older people should still be reasonably good in French, it's just that the French language has become irrelevant as fuck lately.

no offense but to me it seems like a strange concept that fellow countrymen cannot understand each other. i mean we have a lot of dialects here and its hard to understand a bavarian redneck but thats why we have hochdeutsch

And 500 years ago, people from Brabant or Limburg most likely didn't consider themselves as Flemish either
Only the people in Flanders proper (today's West and East Flanders) did
So instead going only half way in breaking out of provincial identities that stem from feudal times, we might as well go all the way and group up according to the language, more or less the way Germans did
150 years late is better than never

Good for me, I want the bilingual elite to be small and hidden so we can scheme and finally make a language hybrid, Belgian would consist of dutch grammar and mainly french vocabulary

It's simple. It's either french in Wallonia or Brussels, or one of the 10+ dutch dialects in Flanders.

More Dutch
