For some reason we always end up with a center right government anyway. We have never had a single government without a center right party in it.

Same, but we have two. Ours managed to elect a single MP in the 40s, but he turned out to be taking money from the Soviets and shortly later the party was banned until the 50s. The were completely irrelevant all through the Cold War (although receiving funding from the USSR). In the 90s they broke into two parties because one (Communist Party of Canada) wanted to reform like most communist parties did, while the other one (Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist)) wanted to be an old-school hardliner party. Both are completely irrelevant today, although many universities have some sort of communist club for anyone autistic enough to go that route.

i don't know if i should tell you, but most people in ex-Soviet and ex-Yugo countries who lived in them during Socialism and weren't kids when they fell, miss it, and very few of them want anything like American capitalism (and those that do are often just a rootless bunch that moved or tried to move to the West anyways).

Social democrats and the USSR were enemies. Stalin supported the KPD against the SPD which they refered to as "social fascists", splitting the left vote and paving the way for Hitler. The KPD tried a coup in Germany and this made the SPD to raise anti-communist militias to take restore order.

During the Hitler years, Stalin and the Chekists had a bunch of the KPD members killed while some KPD members even betrayed their former comrades to Stalin and earned prime positions in the new state of East Germany.
