The thing is, guys, that in russuan language there are two different words to describe a person who's russian ethnically and a citizen of russia/a person whose nation live in Russia. In English you simply call both the former and the latter "russian". So in a way chechens and tatars are russian, but they're not russian ethnically.

There was never any russian-caucasian mix and the people from these lands always fought it, stalin even deported a big part of caucasians to siberia to replace them by ethnic russians until khrouchtchev settled them back to caucasus.
