5g is unexcetpable. It is literally microwaves and requires installing a maintenancing microwave outposts on every street corner. It simply is not worth it. 5G will be found to be heavily damaging to humans and be forced to be removed. I mean we already find that our LTE phones cause brain cancer and reduce testicular output from keeping the phone in your pocket. 5G those effects are going to be WAY more pronounced. It's simply unacceptable and shall not be tolerated.

Like I'm serious. So many people in China are going to be getting cancer in the next 10 years from these 5G phones. Public health is more important than downloading things quickly.

Russia too. This applies to any autocracy. The mechanism isn't very complicated: politics are virtually never decided by people, but rather by the ruling elites. Any ruling entity need to guarantee the army's, and the elites' loyalty to stay in power, and it has to stay in power at whatever the cost, not only to fulfil it's goals/ambitions, but also to avoid getting dealt with by the next ruling entity, as is customary in autocracies. The elites' loyalty could either be guaranteed by using manipulations, concessions, or threats&purges.
Retaining your rule by giving concessions to the ruling elites, such as giving them large amounts of money, power, and protection, inevitably drains your coffers, breeds corruption and incompetence, and leads to unrest. And while an angry mob is just an angry mob, and doesn't really pose a long-term threat, it can cause disloyalty in the army, and give ambitious elites a chance to make a move against you.
You could hold your throne by clashing the elites against eachother, not letting them have enough time or resourses to fight against you, but this requires constant effort, micromanagement, and skill, and thus cannot be continued forever, and also would lead to great instability during the interregnum.
Purges are always fun. They can lead to some great results in terms of sustaining your power, provided you use them right. They also result in constant loss of skilled statesmen and officers, and inevitably produce a class of 'adapters' - a bunch of ass-licking chameleons (ex. Beria), who will inherit your country and ruin it.
Autocracies usually combine the systems in some way. Sometimes they exclude the purges, sometimes they only rely on purges and internal division. But they always produce a centralised system heavily reliant on the ruling entity being competent for it's stability.

I stand somewhat corrected, though the whole thread leaves me with quite a few questions, both about the system, and about the veracity of the claims, and I would need to do further research to develop a pro- or anti- China argument.
