that was the point of peep show though, it wasn't formulaic and things were basically always getting worse
I honestly thought it kind of had misogynistic overtones given that almost every woman Mark or Jeremy met in chance encounters ended up being really horrible.
The only exception probably being the lady from the MBA class that Mark tries to cheat with.

Not really. Mark and Jeremy themselves are generally really horrible if you actually think about their actions somewhat objectively. But since they're our protagonists we give them a pass. The women were right to get out, you wouldn't want to be with either of them really.

Other than Elena cheating, I don't see how those other situations reflect poorly on the women. Sophie is a trainwreck but that's kind of her character. The lady in the burglary gave mark a chance and it didn't work out. Most people in that show are kind of fucked in their own way, kind of what makes it so real.
