Is New York the greatest city on earth?
Yes, yes it is.
Is New York the greatest city on earth?
Yes, yes it is.
It's shit, especially the people
They are all hussler types, no matter the race
ayy i'm walkin' ere
>hussler
hustler*
No they’re all swindlers. Nothing but Jews trying to cheat you out of money and Wops always yelling “bada bing bada boom I’m waking here”. Without a doubt the worst city to live in
It's the capital of the world, so no.
nei, det er det ikke
To nuke? Yes!
What exactly makes it greatest?
Manhattan
After London, it's the second financial capital of the world. It's also where the UN is situated. These two reasons don't make it the greatest for me but for the elite it is.
soon london will be a backwater provincial town
yes
t. 12 year old
from a cultural perspective it's fairly dull, from a nightlife and 'scene' perspective it's very dull. Important for business and impressive architecture (size), yes.
dude skyscrapers lmao: the city
>After London, it's the second financial capital of the world.
Before the Brexit, that is.
It's the autistic Finn retard and his Brexit obsession again.
Isn't York gentrified to the point all normal folks need to commute? More like a Museum than an actual city, I guess.
Yes, even a Russian knows it
45 minutes but worth the watch, especially because of the whores he photographs
No
t.live in this expensive, crowded, dirty, smelly shithole.
>New Yorker tells me he couldn't stand to live outside of a city because the lack of incessant noise audible from inside of his apartment would drive him crazy
It's bizarre how they glorify their third-world living conditions.
these days even a tier-2 chinese city has more and better skyscrapers than NY.
>Isn't York gentrified to the point all normal folks need to commute?
This was always the case but its insanely expensive everywhere so if you work in Manhattan you are definitely commuting these days.
>More like a Museum than an actual city, I guess.
Not really every part of it is active. Industrial production has severely waned though.
>it's the second financial capital of the world
Not so fast, sweetie!!!
businessinsider.com
the hustle and bustle
>They are all hussler types, no matter the race
How much of a sucker are you?
t.
wtf i love banks and jews now
>shitty overpriced overrated grey concrete jungle infested with wogs and jews
no thanks
NYC is far more important than london lol
they are so pushy all the time
Frankfurt is competing to do the same
>wtf i love banks and jews now
>Jews
This isnt 16th century Europe they are barely involved these days. WASPs honestly wield more power.
thanks for the (((post)))
Ignore them and keep walking, no one who lives here talks to strangers unless it's to give directions. Also, everyone begging for money is full of shit or an addict, so never feed the animals.
You’re an idiot if you think all nyc has to offer are skyscrapers
picrel new amsterdam's first borders iirc
>nationalist brexitmong is glad is country is poorer and weaker because it hurts (((them)))
Is that a GTA 1 Reference?
Just heard that gentrification is eating up Brooklyn already. And even the worst parts aren't supposed to be that dangerous anymore.
>Not really every part of it is active.
That is a good thing to hear. It's sad if there is nothing left of the city's culture and there are the same cafes you can find in any gentrified borough in the world.
yes
but that's the only good part of brexit
NYC is full of museums and galleries.
Old buildings are common, this is literally in NYC financial district. Washington's retirement from the army was held in it.
New York used to be a great city while Frankfurt is a complete meme city. It's bland even for German standards.
Same thing is happening in London, I bet in 20 years London will be whiter than it is now just due to middle class wankers pricing out the wogs.
German cities are small as fuck tho. Apart from Berlin You have what.... Hamburg, with like 800 thousand people?
Brooklyn has been getting gentrified for decades. There are still shitty parts like East New York though.
maybe 50 years ago
As far as cities with lots of highrises go, Manhattan is at least more interesting than usually. It's not like a Chinese nu-city with like five interesting buildings and then just a bunch of copied commie towers, there's a good variety of different styles and layers across many eras. These new slender sticc towers look pretty neat
I also distinctly remember looking at mock-up images with these towers a couple years back, and 2020 seemed far away. Now suddenly all of these are nearly finished, crazy how time flies
Gentrification is good only retards complain about it.
Hamburg is almost two millions.
it isnt even the greatest city in the US lmao
Same in Berlin and Hamburg. Some of the worst places since imperal times are turning into posh middle class neighborhoods. Even in my own house this is happening. Only white people move in.
Thanks for the info. I wasn't in New York for a long time.
wtf? Fuck white people. we dont need any more mayonaise cafes
Well, the net population will be just as mixed as before, but they'll be pushed outward. Ethnic groups will also pile up in their own areas, as is the natural order of things. Here's how ethnic groups are distributed in the New York area
I live in BK. That's partially true in places like downtown, Brooklyn heights, Williamsburg, etc. Other places partially or not at all (rents ate high everywhere though). I live in Bushwick it's half gentrified (they keep building all of these high rises) and we have nice bars and restaurants now. A lot of the musicians and artists from Manhattan and Williamsburg are here now. A lot of poorer Hispanics still live and work here (legal and illegal). Some of the industry (metal shops and warehouses are gone and the buildings converted but their are more and more things like breweries (which used to be here and went out of business).
The thing about it is most of its history it was Dutch and German (hence the breweries). Around the 1950s the middle class Germans who were their most of its history moved out and working class Hispanics came in. Property values went to shit and poorer people moved in. Violent crime sky rocketed and it became a complete shithole. Now more professionals (not rich but middle class) are moving back in and are mainly white. So the "gentrification" is basically a reversal of the 20th century decay. Oddly enough a bunch of us have Dutch and German surnames and some people are actual Germans.
I'll take cringe white people with bad taste in bars over pakis and moroccans smoking weed on the street and sudacas occupying flats to sell drugs every time.
t. Madrid
We got Hamburg and Munich. Cologne is a worthy competitor too. But even Berlin got a core inner city (that is great). The rest is more like suburban or commie block neighborhoods that can be found everywhere in Germany.
The good thing about federalism is that gentrification isn't as bad as in France or the UK because functions like cultural or financial capitals are more evenly split.
If you're rich enough to live a comfortable life there.
>1000+ sq ft apartment
>Live in either Manhattan, No further east than Woodside, Queens, No further east than Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
>Can afford parking+a car/taxis - Not to have to use the subway as your daily commute
>Can afford better than one of the manhattan meme kitchens: streeteasy.com
>Can still afford to save / live a comfy lifestyle
Then yes it's the best city in the world.
If you're living paycheck to paycheck renting a 300 sq ft shoebox, no.
>OH MY GOD STOP MAKING THE CITY NICER
>IT NEEDS TO BE FULL OF DECREPIT OLD HOUSING
>MY SOUL CRIES WHEN I SEE CLEAN STREETS
>I WON‘T EAT HERE THERE AREN‘T EVEN ANY AUTHENTIC COCKROACHES IN FOOD HERE
Yeah Hamburg is around two million, Munich is 2,6 million, Frankfurt 2,3 million. The metropolitan area around them also adds additional millions to their area of influence, with people coming in and out of the cities for work and stuff
Sort of right the Dutch factory and fort was built in battery park and wall street was the northern border
>Munich is 2,6 million, Frankfurt 2,3 million
It‘s 1.5m and something like 700k.
Nah, it just tends to change a neighborhood from one unhealthy extreme to anonther. The key are mixed neighborhoods which keep their characteristic (i.e. majority basic or luxury housing).
It's like they have one template for a bar or restaurant and opening everywhere in town. Worse than McDonald's because of the pseudo-individualism. And all organic too.
>while Frankfurt is a complete meme city
It really is bizzare when you look at it and the surrounding area.
No, London is the greatest, NYC is a strong second though.
No, it's not.
And this is coming from someone who was born in New York (yes, even Manhattan).
It sucks. It's noisy and crowded. The people are shit. SoHo is shit. Chinatown is shit. Hell's Kitchen is shit. Downtown is shit. Uptown is overpriced and snobbish as fuck. Grand Central fucking sucks. The Taxis suck. The subway is overcrowded, smelly, and germy. TriBeCa is shit. Chelsea (except for the Market, but that also sucks) is shit. There are too many smokers. The meat packing district is made for soyboys and fags now. Stay the FUCK away from Times Square and all the areas surrounding it within a 5 mile radius. Wall Street is for the Jews. There are protests.
The only districts I recommend are Greenwich Street, Union Square, and Central Park and the nearby areas (sans Harlem and anything that borders that side of Central Park) and everything else up until the borders up.
>East New York
Holy shit, just looked this up on street view. I didn't think places like this existed anymore in NYC, not since Giuliani set the NYPD loose on the blacks.
I lived in a traditional working class neighbourhood near to the center for half of my life.
During the 80s there were a lot of criminals , but at least they were from the neighbourhood and would steal your wallet to get heroin.
Then during the 90s it got filled with scum from outside who started selling drugs, forming gangs and causing actual trouble.
Now it's gentrifying.
The bar that's been there for 50 years closed because the owner retired and now it's a shit hipster bar.
Sure those suck, but I'll pick them over drug dealers and sudaca gangs.
Thanks for the actual interesting info. I just read it on the news or know what some expats tell me from time to time.
I live in Berlin. Here the impact of gentrification is scaled by the more recent history of most boroughs. After starting in the 80s in Western Berlin it mostly happend in the 90s in the former East and changed the face of traditional working class boroughs like Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg to rich-upper middle class.
The more recent wave is affecting the former Western part. And is scaled by the former character of the neighborhood. Bourgeois ones like Charlottenburg are turing into meeting places for rich people and working class ones turn to bland middle class neighborhoods.
Industry is mostly defunct or moved to the outside parts of town. So the old buildings if left intact are used for start-ups or cultural events.
That's not the point. Often it is turning dirty underclass ghettos into sterile middle class hellholes. The most gentrified parts of Neukölln used to be run down and crowed by scummy gangs nowadays they are crowded by scummy middle-class hipsters.
I'm looking at the "urban area" numbers, which I think is a better metric when comparing cities across the globe. It takes into account the entire area where it's built like a city, instead of only considering a specific municipal district
I'll use Helsinki as an example, since I actually sort of know the borders. The urban area is made up of three different cities, whose populations are 650k, 280k and 220k. Or actually four, there's a tiny municipality inside one of them for whatever reason. Looking at it like this, the population of Helsinki is 650k, but functionally it's one continuous urban area. I imagine it's similar with those German cities, maybe not as pronounced but still
Dude, shut the fuck up. New York is the best that Occidental world has to offer. Its the best western city.
I've considered visiting, but it seems boring, what do you even do there?
Like what about it makes it so good and fun? Just a bunch of shitty buildings and niggers
After WWII many old buildings were demolised to make room for the new Frankfurt. The Westend district were the bank builldings are located used tro be filled with beautiful old houses.
>sterile middle class ''hellholes''
Wtf is even your problem? I don't even understand your gruge against ''middle class'' and ''Soibois''. Would you rather have fucking Turks/pakis or some other breed of ''''New''''' Germans?
>OH MY GOD THESE CRIME RIDDEN SLUMS TURN INTO CLEAN LIVEABLE „HELLHOLES“
>THIS NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE YOU WOULD BE SHIVVED BY TURKS FOR YOUR WALLET IS NOW FULL OF AWFUL MEN WITH BEARDS DRINKING SMOOTHIES
I am all for putting scum like these gang bangers behind bars. But it more often just replaces them with middle class scum and destroys all the good parts like bars and restaurants. And after a while you are forced to move to some commie bloc where the same gang bangers moved in for years.
>after a while you are forced to move to some commie bloc where the same gang bangers moved in for years
Or you can finally get a job you H4 assi trash.
>don't even understand your gruge against ''middle class'' and ''Soibois''.
I have to live among them and most are just as annoying as the scum that used to live in my neighborhood. And I take Turkish granny who used to live next door and invited me for tea and cookies anytime over the posh international hipsters that moved in.
Not every is part of these neighborhoods is run down to the point of it being an actual dangerous ghetto. And the Turks don't drive their fucking cargo bikes in fullspeed on side walk.
moved to nyc 3 years ago made a million came back to greece and live like a king
Nah boi. I got a university diploma. But I see you complaining about commie blocs being a breeding ground for criminals worse than in the recent past.
Prussian architectural design was allways fucking autistic, simplistic, and unimmaginative. Polish writer who visited Berlin in early 1860's wrote how the entire city seemed like one, gigantic barrack complex, and was relatively new, with ''oldest'' building being from late 1700's. He also noted the animosity between military class and civilian class in the city, with latter allways steping aside out of the way of the latter. Military men were arrogant and had disdain for civilian populace. The streets were clean and efficient but at the same time cold.
I am glad that Russians removed the last remmnants of shitty Prussian architecture from Koniengsberg, Frankfurt & Berlin etc.
Is your image supposed to illustrate this bad acrchitecture? I see nothing wrong with any of that
Harlem is going the same way. The Bronx will be the final frontier.
>I see nothing wrong with any of that
>A fucking factory chimney literal meters away from Goverment building
That's it?
>I got a university diploma
>I can’t afford to live in Neukölln
Well at least it‘s some spare toilet paper.
Piefke-ism is not welcome.
t. picrelated
Are you autistic
The animosity was a feature of the imperal times in general. It got even worse later as the construction of tenements and industrial plants bought a huge influx of poor working class people. The cities in these boroughs (many parts of the inner city like Wedding) were often more like slums than clean and effecient. But it used to be so grim that it called "steinernes Berlin" (translates roughly as city made out of stine).
>I am glad that Russians removed the last remmnants of shitty Prussian architecture from Koniengsberg, Frankfurt & Berlin etc.
They didn't. In the Eastern parts more of the old Prussian architecture remained than in the West. This was to monetary as the West put much energy in reshaping the city. They even tore down an entire neighborhood in the process and wanted to to demolish most parts of Kreuzberg.
I can in fact. Got myself a nice old rental contract.
Much better than Berlinigdad, now fuck off. I expected nothing more from a braindead, unimaginative, autistic Piekfe kraut.
Stfu you Piefke dickrider.
The working class neighbourhoods were already destroyed by them, the essence is already lost.
In Lavapies many old bars closed and now kebab shops and paki restaurants are there.
Many old residents moved away because of them, what is the problem with gentrification then?
It‘s a chimney of a beer brewery, autismo.
Don't expect it to be like Paris. Berlin used to be a industrial city and it got the morbid beauty of old 19th-cenutry old German industrial towns.
Are you an architect?
Yes, Polish civil planning and architecture is beautiful.
>Piefke
Kek. Imagine being so culturally poor you have to even use foreign words you don‘t understand to swear.
Still an example of bad planning.
