The whole point of an ETF is that instead of buying the actual shares you buy an open ended mutual fund that is managed by someone else. The point is for long term investors to have managed shares of the ETF for long term investments, where they just buy, sit on it for years, and get an quarterly report. The buyers of a Bitcoin ETF would only indirectly own their Bitcoin. They would not be able to buy alts with it. They would not be able to transfer it out of the ETF. The ETF is just a representation of Bitcoin for the shareholders.
