OW is practically a MOBA in first person, the skill ceiling is extremelly low when it comes to actual movement and DM skill, they remove anything that could raise the skill ceiling to make it more "fair"

This is why I hate it. I hate the whole idea of having champions and support and shit. Arena shooters are much superior because your character is just an aesthetic device and nothing more, your skill is everything.

The other day I installed Quake III on the ioquake3 engine (the evolved version of idtech3), and there are still servers with real people up, although it's 95 % bots. But man I had real fun.

Most average-to-pro gamers play a lot. Usually they spend all their free time playing.
However even at the average level Korean ladders are one head above the western ladders.
You can't explain that with just playing time.

Korean culture is very lively and social, you're just ignorant for not knowing that.
And yet their gaming culture is always a step ahead of the world. And that goes beyond video gaming too, look at the Baduk for example.

The actual answer to this has something to do with their mentality and maybe genetics (idk). It's likely that they're just naturally better at improving, so with the same time spent playing the same games they end up just slightly better. And then it amplifies itself at the higher levels and becomes not just "slightly better" but "significantly better".

The reason Koreans are good at game is that their whole youth is consumed by education and military service. Korean would actually start their adulthood freedom in the late 20s so they wouldn’t fuck around when they have leisure. And internet is easily assessable.
