you dont have to speak nothing but gibberish for 4 years, Im saying its inevitable you'll speak gibberish in the beginning. Obviously as an adult the language learning process is faster and it doesn't take years for your first word. The point is that I see all these people who take (in my case) Chinese classes for years and can't speak for shit, and I speak at a high level in 1.5 years by largely mimicking how children learn but at an adult pace. Of course Im not going to neglect capabilities I have as an adult that I didnt have as a toddler, but what do you mean 'learn like a normal person'? If you mean 'go to classes and get shit results, Im afraid of speaking to natives until I can speak decently first (which doesnt work)' then thats dumb. I dont know what you mean by 'like a normal person' but most people I see have a bad strategy and get bad results.
