People need to understand for once that France is like a crossroad. People in the South east of France can be related to italians but others parts, not at all. I'm from South West and I nothing in common with Italians, but I admit that I share many things with Catalan people or some others Spaniards.

I knew people in my family who lives in the North and they are related to Belgians/Dutch, even English people.

Each region, each its own history. The Italian thing is okay for South east, not the others parts.
