Not true when it comes to Finland. IIRC Finland was the "Albania of the north" (poor, small, agrarian) all the way to 1950's and even later.
Finland fought in WW2 on the losing side though. And we aren't in the NATO. Norway and Denmark were battlegrounds during WW2.
