India is so diverse that probably only Papua beats it and only USA comes close (and that's due to immigration).
Literally less than 4% are in extreme poverty so I don't even understand why India is still regarded as a poverty ridden shithole. And half the people that live in slums don't live there because they don't have money, it's bcause the growth is so fast and so is the rate of urbanization that the infrastructure can't keep up. So these people have no choice but to live there but they still go to school, have access to basic necessities and shit. This is why India is now the largest importer of steel (just this year), because it needs to construct more infrastructure.
As for inequality, name me country that doesn't have inequality AND got rid of it during their development. Every capitalist country has inequality and is a part of a country growing under the capitalist model.
The caste system slows down growth because it gives retards of lower caste higher positions than people who actually worked for it. It's not even a matter of which caste really, it just allows retards from lower caste to achieve big without putting an effort in. The caste system benefits the lower castes now, that's why it hasn't been removed.
