I think the hate against 3 was always overstated by edgy zoomers. I have fond memories of it.
It felt like you were more intimately involved in the world. I think most of its elements were better than NV, they were just less numerous and varied.

I'm doing the Spanish Fly achievement which requires you to have a PU over an Iberian nation. I'm just going on speed 5, doing a bit of colonising, and crossing my fingers that one of these shitters will get my dynasty. If it gets to the 1700s and they still don't I'll have to come up with something else, most likely releasing Navarra as a vassal, putting a relative on the throne, freeing them, claiming their throne, and then PUing them once the truce is up.

What's your colonisation strategy and what's the situation like in general?
Is it a viable strategy to go for Africa or "the east indies" like the Dutch did? They seem to have fleshed out those areas more than they once were. Converting Japan would be a nice challenge, if there's something to be done there.

Same. While NV is the arguably a more authentic Fallout experience, I found 3 to be a very enjoyable game. And 3 didn't crash every 2 hours on console.

This game I've just been colonising whatever's handy and avoiding conflict. However, if you want a proper colonisation strategy for a min-maxing game you should definitely focus on Trade Companies. The Trade Company investments added with Dharma have made them even more ridiculously overpowered than they already were, money just becomes a non-issue even sooner. However, like I said, I've just been speed 5-ing most of this and wasn't bothered conquering anything, but I'm still making loads of ducats from West Africa.
