I know one of this website's main focus is Japanese entertainment, but this thread seems like the only place to bring this up. I randomly came across a Chinese drama recently, 大江大河 or Like a Flowing River and holy shit I didn't realize they actually made good stuff. It's the story about some entrepeneurs in the late 70s when China started rolling out their economic reforms. It was on the same level as HBO/AMC in terms of production and writing. Not sure if they have much of an animation industry to speak of but as far as dramas go this was the most interesting shit I've seen in years. The Xi Jinping dynasty just got a lot more compelling.
