"Low base" refers to GDP per capita, obviously, you have 250 million people to create wealth, we have only 40 million. You 260 million people created only 51 billion of wealth (5% of 1,022), our 40 million people created 30 billion of wealth (5% of 586).

Therefore, our GDP per capita grew more than yours, even if in absolute terms your GDP grew more. You will never catch up with eastern Europe per capita then, you'd need to grow like 10%/year, just like South Korea or China did at the beginning of their way. Your results are really disappointing given how poor you are now.

I never claim anyone is dumb. I just want to hear different opinions, the more opinions I hear, the more I know. You know, there is a book "Why Nations Fail?", it's really interesting, in this book the authors prove it's just lack of proper legal and political institutions that makes nations fail. Maybe the fact that Malaysians adopted British institutions, while Indonesians failed to adopt Dutch ones has something to do with it.

Yes, our GDP per capita does indeed grow. Last time I checked, even the poor farmers got mobile internet devices and no longer sustain themselves on steamed taro roots. And of course since people don't eat roads I don't think those public roads will become obsolete in their lifetime.
