That's actually not entirely true at all. There are about 2 million Bulgarians living overseas. About 1 million of them left right after the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The other 1 million left shortly after the visas for Bulgarians are removed for other Eu countries in the early 2000 - 2004. Right now, the gap between the people who leave and the people who come in is closing very fast according to latest data. A lot of BG companies are actively promoting and encouraging Bulgarians to come back home offering them all sorts of good paying jobs. I would say that most people who leave, or at least a very big part of them are Gypsies or students. We have also liberated our immigration policies a lot in the past 2 years to attract more Ukrainians, Vietnamese and others. Most of the staff in the tourism industry are non-Bulgarians. The picture is not black and white as you make it out to be.
