Depends greatly on the region. Midwest is empty as fuck and people drive an hour to the grocery store. The South is hot, violent, and lots of black people. Northern California is cooler and has lots of nature/forests/hiking. Northern New England (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont) is very forested, low crime, 95% white. Massachusetts/Connecticut is very crowded and has good public transit. Outside of NYC / Long Island, New York State is kind of rural. Florida is extremely humid and full of Hispanics and crocodiles/snakes on the road.

At least here in the good ol' midwest (Ohio) everyone seems superficial, specifically nice to your face, but maybe couldn't care less about you if you died. Also, at least where I'm at in the state there's nothing to do. This lack of stimulus is honestly why I think a lot of people get into drugs. Yeah we have a lot of big cities, but good luck if you're outside of them.
Also, British weather has nothing on the bipolar weather that is Ohio. This week alone it was in the low 70s (Freedom units) for three days and it dipped down all the way into the 40s for the next two.
