Be Vietnamese

>Be Vietnamese
>Wage a ten year long war against America, get about a million vietnanese killed, and force America out
>Move to the US anyway
Why?

It's almost like real human beings aren't some Borg hive-mind.

A lot of Viets after the war who supported the Southern government were desperate to escape the oppression the invading Northern government placed them under after it annexed the south.

Cause no one cares anymore

OP have you ever heard of South Vietnam.

Either a near majority, or a majority, of the Vietnamese didn't support VC or NVA.
And they lost support throughout the war largely because of VC terror tactics against villages

Also the repressions in the 80s made a new wave

>ywn bury landlords and traitor peasants alive in their own fields as a member of the VC
Why live?

It was about politic, not a nations conflict.

>a smart Russian
Holy shit

Reminder that no one in modern Vietnam calls it "Ho Chi Minh City", it's universally still just Saigon to everyone.

t. Expat that should kill themselves

Vietnamese people today don't seem to care about the Vietnamese war at all, whereas americans constantly seethe about it. Is this just because the Vietnam war was the only one the USA ever lost or is there a deeper reason to it?

based

I think they care an awful lot

Almost as based as a bunch of dead boomer soldiers cut down in their prime.

Be cause they are south Vietnamese Escaping the North Vietnamese commies

Because the Vietnamese were based and wanted American help before shit went down, to free them of the french occupation.

You can blame the frogs on that whole shit storm

Nigger are you retarded? Shitloads of them fled here after the fall of Saigon, a bunch of them where I live still use the old Vietnamese flag with the stripes. Plus a lot of them probably don't care about the war and immigrate to the US for work.

The one's I've seen online never seem to

They're too busy seething about Russian tourists

(((((((((((Russian))))))))))"""""""""""""""""" tourists""""""""""""""""""""

The war's impact affected about every aspect of our culture, so most Americans identities are tied to it in some way or another.

American = trash.

Half of the Vietnamese never wanted to live under communism, and I bet a lot of North Vietnamese didn't exactly like communism either. Besides, Vietnam has basically forgiven America for the war and has some of the highest approval rates for the US in the world.

I think because so much of pop culture and modern American history is shaped by Vietnam. It was also one of the wars where the public turned quite heavily against it and questioned whether it was worth fighting in.

That's because it's been like 40 years since the commie government of Vietnam has actually persecuted the people who supported the South.

Why would Vietnam hate us? There the only country to have defeated America and we sent troops to die on their soil as well as southern vietnam was literally our ally.

Vietnamese are immensely proud they beat us but at the same time humbled by how we sent Americans to die on their soil.

Vietnam actually loves the US because they protect Vietnam from China. This is unfortunate (for them) because the US isn't going to a major player in their region for much longer and China never forgets.

The Vietnam War was fought between two countries, the anti-communist Republic of Vietnam (a.k.a. South Vietnam) backed by the US, and the communist Democratic Republic of Vietnam (a.k.a. North Vietnam) backed by the Soviet Union and PRC.

At the end of the war when the Northern armies were closing in on Saigon, a lot of people in the South got the fuck out because they didn't want to end up in a re-education camp. Many of them went to the US since we were a major ally. Also, more came afterwards too because post-reunification Vietnam was shit in the years following the war.

Based.
