I have almost 11K LINK and couldn't imagine the 1000 EOY prophecy coming true because of the current bear market as well, but I fucking hope I'm wrong. LINK doesn't seem to need any specific catalyst to moon other than it working as intended, partnerships being announced, and then the institutional money flowing in as smart contracts begin to get real world use. Hell it could be the next spark that makes crypto take off. ETF's should help as well, but what else would drive another boom cycle?

Here's what you need to understand. If you're a node operator you want to have the highest possible dollar value of LINK on your node, because it allows you to take the contracts with the highest value (as you are able to stake a higher penalty than other competing contracts).
The market demand for more value of LINK in each node, coupled with the limited number of LINK tokens in circulation, exerts a direct, constant, never ending upward pressure on LINK token value.
I'll repeat. It is in the direct interest of every node operator that the price of LINK is as high as possible, because it allows them both to access high value contracts and allows them to stake fewer LINK per contract, thus allowing them to run more simultaneous contracts for the same number of tokens and therefore make greater profits.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that with a fully deployed ecosystem and a large, competitive market of node operators, the LINK price will be pushed to extreme heights without ANY speculator input at all.
Add all the speculator and normie money on top of that and, well, you figure it out.

The amount of LINK staked will be one factor in a node's reputation, but I'm talking about penalty staking.

Say a large financial contract needs $10k as a penalty stake in case of incorrect data. Only nodes that actually have $10k worth of LINK to submit as penalty payments.will be able to take that job, but the rewards will be large too. Because lots of nodes will want those high value jobs, lots of node operators will want to have (a lot more than) $10k worth of LINK. That demand combined with limited token supply means the price of each token has to go up to meet the demand.
