It's not just a decentralized data feed. External adapters enable any company to use Chainlink nodes to interact with their own private blockchains, or really do any combination of internal processes with the data. And external adapters can be proprietary, meaning no other node can have access to the external adapter to manipulate a company's off chain processes. It's a unique combination of onchain/offchain/onchain integration. This is the part of Chainlink that is an enterprise solution, because it allows for specific complexity. Of course, this isn't even including the general decentralized network of nodes providing data for all kinds of smart contracts. Chainlink does it all

Can you imagine all the stupid betting sites and pyramid scheme games that will be reliant on offchain data? There could be a second 'ICO craze' but with automated smart contracts. There will also be subpar chink alternative that gets a lot of hype and pulls an antshares to chainlink's eth.
