Indeed
I meant to post this picture along with it
the right tower is too short. dumb frogs.
Your tower is too short
You're going to HATE this one then.
Meant for lel, good thread OP
Why is it like this? What went wrong? Why couldn't that just be on the front like a normal church?
I secretly hope someone will finish this one once.
I think Angloids ripped off their favorite gothic style from that one church
uwu
Not really built as a French church, but still too good to hide. It has similar characteristics as the one in Strasbourg and Brussels.
Proof
I hope they finish the one in my town first
It seems like it's missing a tower. The cathedral of Antwerp is missing its second tower as well.
One of my favorites in all of France
well at least they built parts of it
pic related is the first example of early gothic and it also misses one of its towers
How can a church like that exist in such a shitty neighbourhood?
>(((someone))) has allowed to build that modern style apartment next to it
>town has only 20 000 inhabitants
>has a cathedral
wot
so like did people run out of money in the middle ages or what
This one has a peculiar design for sure
Cool towers with tridimensional facade effect
Well that church is often vandalized which is unfortunate for most of the kings of France including ancient Frankish kings are buried there
That one tower is pretty insane though.
my benelux cathedralfu ngl
The northern half of France undoubtedly has our best cathedrals but some of the most peculiar are down south
I love the one in Clermont-Ferrand built with black volcanic Vichy stone
Am partial to Rodez cathedral too
With southern French cathedrals you usually don't reach record heights but they tend to have peculiar looks compared to the emblematic northern onces
Why do they all look the same?
They all have the same basic design.
Bordeaux's is small but gorgeous
whats the difference?
Albi's cathedral is probably the most exotic looking
Or this one in the south-west with Bizantine influences
that looks more modern
when was it built
Do the three doors symbolise the trinity or what?
Cathedrals are too big. They should be torn down and replaced with housing and offices.
most of Southern cathedrals are plain lame. Just look at Lyon's, Montpellier's, Toulouse's or Toulon's
Where's the entrance?
Started in the 12th century but over the centuries it underwent lots of events and modifications, as did many other cathedrals Pic related, in 1852 before it got its definitive look
Most cathedrals are so old that they're the same, pieced together from different centuries. Which is why I wouldn't call them the same, yes they're all Gothic for the most part but they all grew their own ways when you look at them
All those you cited have quite unique features so I have no idea why you would call they lame besides themp being usually smaller
>Most cathedrals are so old that they're the same, pieced together from different centuries. Which is why I wouldn't call them the same
That was unclear, I meant I wouldn't say there aren't any differences between them
It has a big ass tower somewhere else tho
On the side
Can't find any better pic of it than this reproduction
