I was in Europe for three weeks last summer. This summer is incredibly mundane in comparison.

every single summer since 2012 I have told myself I'll learn enough math so I can really get deeper into stuff like algo trading and quant trading. And now summer '18 is almost over.

I tried it this summer.

>spend hours upon hours waiting to board plane
>spend 12 hours in said plane, bored to death.
>arrive at destination, spend hours waiting for luggage again
>arrive at hotel, eat some food. Stomach pains within 3 hours.
>spend the rest of the day on the shitter.
>finally go do some sightseeing.
>tourists EVERYWHERE. FUCKING EVERYWHERE.
>standing with said tourists, taking the exact same pictures as them of stuff allready photographed a billion times before
>gf obsesses over posting them on facebook, spends entire time checking likes.
>spend evening on hotel balcony, sipping a beer. Thinking it would have been so much nicer to sip this beer at home or in a comfy forrest cabin

Fuck traveling... seriously... it's all make belief bullshit and none of the "culture" is real in those tourist hot spots... it's a fake image or a synthetic recreation of something that once was real and had soul hundred years ago. It's all empty normie focussed marketing, aimed at triggering that sweet dopamine release. "muh freedom" "muh culture". Fucking hell.

Next year, i'm going to my FUCKING FOREST CABIN!

I personally think traveling is a waste of time. I've already been around the world and sure it might be cool to look at nice architecture but that's the only appealing thing about the trip and also what you spend the least amount of time on. You're better off just looking at pictures of that shit and doing something fun in your area.

I really enjoyed Tokyo/Japan. If you enjoy seeing things, trying things out, and being up close to history its a nice outlet. On my list I still have to go to Iceland and see the northern lights. Would also like to go to the UK and hike/walk along the ruins of Hadrian's Wall. I'm super obsessed with history and get off seeing, touching, or being up close to all the places Ive read about for so long experiencing things other humans experienced long ago.

My girlfriend also has romantic ideas of us traveling but I do believe you in that it's mostly nonsense and it's more or less what you make of it.

That said I do like the idea of getting a cheap camper and cruising around the US. Getting really sick of my local area desu

1 don't take anything except carry on luggage
2 never stay in hotel. Hostel it.
3 go to out of the way places eg some random stop on the shinkansen in but fuck nowhere stay for a few days hire a bicycle and ride to buckfuck even more nowhere walk into tea house in rural japan somewhere
