On top of this, the trade war is also causing 1 out of every 4 firms to relocate into SEAsia where supply chains and labor is now becoming cheaper for business than China. It's unlikely the full effect of the trade war will be realized for a few more years, but Trump is the first administration since Reagan to fight geoeconomics with geoeconomics instead of with military might.

If the US collapses for whatever reason, that will likely bring down China, without US markets to sell the mass goods to, factories will close and jobs will be lost. This doesn't sound like a huge problem on the surface, but the CCP uses the deal with the average Han citizen that as long as there's job and growth, the Han will truth in the CCP, if progress stagnates or worse, regresses, the deal is off. This is why China puts such a huge amount of resources into ensuring that the Chinese economy remains growing at such a rate and that it's propelled by mass jobs creation.
