Move to California, enroll in Community College. Do two years there and transfer to the school of your choice. California (not sure about other states) has a program called TAG that pretty much ensures admission to universities as long as your CC GPA stays at a certain level.

When I was going to CC I knew a lot of Koreans from S. Korea who were going the CC route and then transferring, and also because it's cheaper than doing the whole 4 years at a uni

IKR, when I was in HS no one told me about community college. I actually never knew they existed, until a few days before my local CC showed up to my HS and was holding entrance exams

I don't know anything specific for Harvard but when I was doing post-grad and new undergrad my average tuition was like $35k+++++, sometimes even closer to $50k~ but never higher.

This was around close to a decade ago. There's also living expenses, most burgers have use grants and loans while gaijins like myself pay upfront or get sponsored with foreign scholarships (very few, like an absolute handful).

They literally do things for you that state schools can't. At Stanford, my major counselor got me an internship in France. She literally handed it to me and filled out the paper work. I did nothing. Whereas my brother who went to a state school had to fight tooth and nail to get a summer internship in our hometown. It's super ridiculous how top schools make life so much easier
