How hard is it to learn Russian?

In the US the program to get into med school requires very specific studies and they will not consider time studying abroad those topics competitive. I really, really recommend you not do this if you have any premed classes left to take.
in russia its like everything is half price, in spb at least. exchange student accommodation is quite cheap, not sure what its like if you're enrolled at the uni though

I think so. Don't know what it used to be like, but I went there a year ago and it was pretty awful
I’ve been learning for probably two months on the side, almost exclusively on duolingo(not the best idea). The alphabet is a breeze and word order is similar to English for simple sentences, or at least intuitive, pronunciation isn’t terribly hard. I’m past the second checkpoint and I’m starting to lose steam though, with all the твoё, мoeгo and нaшeй shit, not to mention all the cases. Really I just need to sit down and memorize some charts - duolingo doesn’t help much with that. Anyway, it’s not easy, but it’s not as hard as you might think.
Here's a better thing to put it into context. I'm not in school for an MD, but a BSN (nursing). Such wouldn't ruin nursing for me, and I'm not looking to study medicine there either. I'm just looking for an opportunity to study language that I can use with my work, and thus it's between Ukraine and Russia since they're most relevant for my area in terms of slavic languages and studies
Oh, that's fine then. Sorry i was being so negative, but you said you were studying medicine and I got the wrong idea. I'd go for Russia, it's honestly a nicer country and still pretty cheap for an American.

I don't think that it can be solved. It's just how it is. Some people can live like that, but most can't, so unless there's external reasons (like muslim immigration to Europe now or the exception America is because of its racial ghettos), it's natural that most places stay fairly homogeneous.
