I just found out there are countries in europe and states in the US that have such bad quality tap water that people buy bottled water for drinking. What the fuck. How do you even survive?

By buying bottled water.
just go to the river and drink the water lmao.
>tfw when your county's tap water is unflouridated and one of the best in the country but you still buy bottled water anyways
Stay mad yuropoors
American tap water has lead and fluoride. Thank God in rural New England, everyone uses wells.
just go to a lake and drink the water lmao.
Oregon? If so, why waste your money? You're the idiot.
*Shits and throws a cat down your well*
As you were
tap water is fucking disgusting and full of bacteria, not good to drink
it kinda amazes how is it possible to make such high-quality water so you can even drink it and distribute it in a whole fucking country
sounds impossible if you ask me, bu it is not
Funny thing is in a ton of places in Europe the ground water that is used for peoples taps has more minerals than bottled mineralwater and is fucking free
Bottled water is the biggest scam in recorded human history
It always shocks me when I'm abroad that the tap water is chlorinated. I'm like "PFFFFFT! WTF?"
Everyone just uses tap water here I think, but Germans (my mom is German so I visit a lot) always buy bottled water for some reason
I live near D.C. and the tap water here is disgusting.
places like Hungary and Croatia have non-drinkable tapwater cause of their flat or insular geography in combination with industrial pollution of the groundwater
>tap water is fucking disgusting and full of bacteria, not good to drink
Only in shithole countries such as Mexico, USA, UK, etc.
Wells are typically covered.
yeah taht is just what i said in that same post pretty much
Like toilet seas are
Bottled water tastes better and has tighter quality control. It's bottled in nearly sterile environments whereas tap water runs through pipes in which it stands and warms up, not forgetting that tap water mostly is taken straight up out of the ground water or out of lakes. How do you think bacteria which are found in stool get into tap water? You're drinking diluted poop.
Bottled water is just filtered tap water mostly. But keep forking over your money to the bottled jew
nah, not in places like southern spain where they gain water from desalting sea water. Also for daily consumption there exist water filters. Plus in countries where you cant drink tap Water you usually get mega jugs of like 20l cheap af. It's not like you have to buy 20 bottles of bonaqua every day.
Maybe it was sparkling water? It is quite refreshing.
Based waterjew
Why doesn't Europe have this problem? Pretty much all new world tap water is terrible or at the very least suspect.
In my area if you have city or municipal water, they test it every year and put the results in the newspapers web site.
I have my own well, I get that tested every 2 years.
Isn't this normal?
It's not quality they just dont like the flavor or it has wells and the ground water has things like sulfur in it. For the later though it's cheaper to just get a filter as you have to bathe in it too.
>American tap water has lead and fluoride
The first is false unless you lived in flynt during their shit storm. You can get a free for flouride though it has benefits for developing teeth.
>Maybe it was sparkling water? It is quite refreshing.
My cousins never drink tap water, I assumed this was common for all Germans
*starts fracking in the other Americans yard from a slant drilled well.
It has fluoride I thought, I remember my dentist telling me to drink tap water because it has fluoride in it
>during
Their water is still contaminated.
it is, although many people also drink tap water. But only if you run out of sparkling water.
Germans have a hard on for mineral waßer. I dont know if other Europeans are like that though. It used to be a thing here when urban tap water wasn't that great.

>Most developed nationsdo not fluoridate their water. In western Europe, for example, only 3% of the population consumes fluoridated water.
>Only 11 countries in the world have more than 50% of their population drinking fluoridated water:Australia (80%), Brunei (95%); Chile (70%), Guyana (62%), Hong Kong (100%), the Irish Republic (73%), Israel (70%), Malaysia (75%), New Zealand (62%), Singapore (100%), and the United States (64%).
>United States (64%).
It does. I had to take fluoride supplements as a child because I had a well. After a certain age though you dont need it.
It's within acceptable levels.
Surely they test it more often? Just checked, and here they check it in a lab and update the values shown to public four times a year.
The water department workers test it every day.
The results are published once a year.
>Have a filter for my tap water
>Now can safely drink tap water
>suddenly first world
We use filters to filter the crap out. And then use UV rays to filter the bacteria. And then they change the balance of minerals to make it a bit tastier.
*UV rays to kill the bacteria
And on our Islands people just drink sea water.
>they change the balance of minerals to make it a bit tastier
*adjusts folio*
>flag
>he thinks his water is unflouridated
oh no no no
>>Most developed nationsdo not fluoridate their water. In western Europe, for example, only 3% of the population consumes fluoridated water.
You are also more likely to get dental caries (cavities) without it. Fresh water also has varying degrees of fluoride so it really depends on where the person lives. However, because of all the shit people added flouride to in developed countries fluorosis is a thing.
In the Netherlands we don't add fluoride or chlorine to the drinking water.
We use kettle to boil water before drinking it
>It's within acceptable levels.
No it fucking isn’t. I live 40 minutes from Flint and the water is still fucked thanks to our preceding state government.
I wouldn't know. I'm dead.
This is mostly an issue in areas where mining has lead to polluted water supplies
Maryland? I'm from Montgomery County and never noticed anything particularly bad about tap water there
not true, i grew up on tap water in croatia and i'm fine.
Another reason why our drinking water is superior to American or British drinking water is because our pipelines are better maintained.
>I just found out there are countries in europe and states in the US that have such bad quality tap water that people buy bottled water for drinking.
Why not just use water purifiers? ROs can literally do best purification and they aren't even that expensive.
The not drinking tap water thing is bullshit. I grew up drinking straight from the faucet in Pakistan and i'm fine
I remember as a kid I often heard Dutch people talk about how they get diarrhea or stomach complaints from drinking water in Spain lol.
While it should be drinkable. And people in Spain just do.
People here are not used to anything anymore.
In Europe??
Here it depends on municipality but most do fluoridate
>Why doesn't Europe have this problem?
For one, the EU drinking water standard allow for, on average, somewhere between 2 and 4 times less of any given contaminant than the EPA does.
>fluoridealert.org
Well that doesn't sound like it could be biased at all.
>only 3% of the population consumes fluoridated water.
What they forgot to mention is that that definition only includes artificially fluoridated water. If you live on Sjælland, Lolland or Bornhom your tap water already has a natural fluorine content of somewhere between 0.3-0.99 mg/l. Quite comparable numbers to the 0.7 mg/l recommendation set by the EPA (environmental protection agency).
