Fuck having Canadians pour billions into other nations tropical vacation destinations. The cost of the new citizens would have been a decimal of the money brought in by citizens not traveling outside our country.

i mean the us and a bunch of european countries have tropical islands and its not like their tourists exclusively go to them

Yeah but it would have created billion in tourism. Imagine a pacific island but with the backing of one of the largest economies in the world. Could have easily turned it into a top tier world class travel destination that caters to French and English speakers. Also would have expanded Canadian influence and allowed for a number of different economic opportunities.
