Yeah. Panama separated from Spain on its own and then decided to "join" the New Granada project, project that fails. Back then it was easier to go from Panamá to Lima or California than to travel to Bogota. So Panama was always very isolated from the rest of Colombia. Before 1903 there were various other secessionist attempts with diverse degrees of success.

Yeah. Obviously, there are all sorts of Colombians (good and bad), but every time there are news of drug traffickers and that sort of things there is at least one Colombian involved.

I try to be. At least I am not a bad person on purpose.

There are some. I've heard German a couple of times at least. But not as common as hearing English speakers. I assume most of the anglos are American but some maybe Canadian or English. There are some Spaniards here as well.

I have no experience in that regard, but I 've heard that they expensive (the good ones).

It is not as terrible as in most of LatAm. But it is pretty bad. I feel hopeful in regards to the corruption issue. I think things are improving. But time will tell. We have elections this year...
Crime in the Capital and in Colón is terrible. The police is becoming more competent as of late. But there are too many criminals. In the rest of the country, it is not as bad, though. The countryside and the smaller towns are pretty safe.

A lot of their media is transmitted here. El Chavo del Ocho, El Chapulín Colorado, La Rosa de Guadalupe (in an ironic way), are well known. Mariachis and burritos are seen as something pretty exotic. We have Taco Bells, too.
