During highschool years you go through various tests (medical/physical/theoretical etc) and based on your results and success you get assigned a job. in most cases you also have a slight say in to which area of practice you wanna head but they dont always consider it.

Females do 2 years and in some jobs 2 years and 8 months like males do.

It does eventually mean that all autists have to do army work at some point, but also if you're really autistic/ill/disabled you don't have to serve. In some cases they can volunteer to serve but it affects on which job you can get.

I had a quick look through wikipedia and it seems the dutch army is credited with UN forces almost exclusively, so they have some experience dicking about pretending to be useful.
