No, assassination markets where envisioned in the mid 90's. Everyone involved with Augur long enough knew we would see these within a week time. This isn't FUD, it is the full potential of a decentralized prediction market. By no means am I saying this is right or you should participate. But everyone familiar with the Crypto Anarchist Manifesto saw it coming as soon Augur got its whitepaper out.

augur is centralized anyway, if they can remove any item or steal/transfer tokens without the sole permission of the holder.
at least their oracles are slightly decentralized, which is more than can be said for chainlinks entirely centralized oracles
