Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan are more like Iran genetically and culturally.
Finland, baltics, Mari-mordvins, and Komi-udmurts were basically primitive and didn’t know the existence of the other countries until fairly recently.

Why English specifically? Germany is the most spoken language in the EU, and Russia if you include non-EU countries.
