Doctor
I enjoy it but my work load is too much atm, probs going to move to Australia where i'll get paid twice as much for half the amount of hours.
Did you always know you wanted to be a doctor and was it hard to become one? Are you very intelligent?

> Professional online poker player and studying finance in college
> I'm making a lot of money (averaged 200k post tax for the past 3 years) and I'm doing great in school, but I'm honestly not enjoying life that much atm. I've had some depression and my life balance is pretty messed up; I go to bed between 4 and 6 am, I don't exercise and I don't see friends that much because I spend most of my time playing poker and studying. It's really hard for me to get rid of unhealthy habbits and live a balanced life even though I know what I need to do.
A tip: Knock that shit off ASAP. Studying is fine, but force yourself into a better sleep schedule. Your brain is barely fully developed. You are fucking your shit up by gambling and staying up too late.
Don't you know everyone on Jow Forums is either an entrepeneur with 5m or a software developer making 250k?
Listen I'm not trying to knock the difficulty of a doctorate. But in all honesty, the hardest thing I saw about medical school was managing debt. If you can complete school and function in life with 250,000 in debt - you can become a doctor.
Yes there is a whole lot of subjectivity with schools, residencies and applications. I feel that's the same in any industry, just scaled due to higher wages in medicine.
I just got my real estate license. Had it for about a month so far—haven’t seen any cash yet but that’s how it goes for the first few months
Nice. I'm wondering whether I should try working for a business in the industry. That's my plan b. Plan a is that I make a lot more money off of BTC and then use some profit to go in on a deal with my buddy who is familiar with the business.
Also, I am hoping that the market crashes soon, that would be so sweet.
I'm trying to fix my sleep, but it's difficult because I've been living like that for the past 4 years and poker sometimes "forces" me to stay up late when games are really good. Poker is my main source of income (pic related is last 12 months or so). I've been thinking about quitting but it's hard for me to say no to that kind of money. Thank you for the advice.

Nice poker gains. If you are good at it and don't have the degenerate gambler mindset, then you're golden. But really try to force yourself to sleep properly. I know that you know, just hoping to stoke your fire bud.

Wagecuck/somewhat commissioned insurance sales job
It’s a good job but not even close to what I’m passionate about. I can browse the web and fuck around and still do all my work within 2 hours with very little supervision.. Need to get out of nigger-tier credit score before I explore other options though.

Well it might have been the hardest thing out of all things in med school, if you're smart. I'm 123 IQ, tops. I don't know what I'm truly capable of because my life problems hinder everything, but I have very specific skills in music. Math went over my head fast in school, but I think it's mostly because of my friend group who didn't appreciate school. Now it's hard to begin learning math, but I know I'm capable if I was to study every day.
I don't know what I'm talking about lol I don't normally get to talk to people smarter than me.
Yea I will really try, thank you. Not worth it to fuck up my health for money that I don't even need. I don't have a gambling mindset at all; I only play in games where I have an edge and I never tilt or chase losses. That being said, poker can still be really stressful and the short term variance can be brutal. It's very similar to being a day trader.
How did you learn to get that good at poker?
you are all posting in a data collecting thread.
What the fuck are you doing man you keep quoting posts that don't exist

I'm an "IT Director" Really an IT manager, but IT title inflation is real haha
It's fine. It can be challenging logistically and technically which I enjoy, but fielding sales calls and communicating change internally (especially when there is resistance) can be draining.
Nah both of us are... I think something is fucking up. Maybe Jow Forums is still having issues today.
I've got a question. How much do you make before the taxes?
Is it considered a salary or capital gains?

PhD student.
Best job in the world. Free trips to conferences and satisfying work.
Years of practicing/ studying and some of it is talent. You have to be very good at pattern recognition, logical reasoning and (to a lesser extent) math to make it to the top. Nowadays online poker is extremely competitive and it's by no means easy money. Most people who try to go pro fail (much like in day trading) and most pros can't make it past mid stakes. Just beating low stakes takes a lot of effort and talent.
I deleted my posts because I wanted add some things to them.

I work as a network technician but most of my money comes from mining.
I enjoy it, I really don't even have to work. Mining crypto makes more money for me than my job does. I just get bored staying at home all the time and want to make even more money desu
It's tax free in my country (I live in Scandinavia). I've made about 200k/year for the past 3 years. If I was playing full time I could probably make 300k/year. It's getting harder and harder every year to make a lot of money because of AI/solvers, advanced software, cheap cloud computing etc. (I don't use these tools much myself though) which is why I'm studying finance on the side. I will probably quit poker in 1-3 years.

I enjoy it because there's a lot of flexibility with my job and I make well above average for my age. I have my own desk and can delegate work to my subordinates, so I mean what else could you ask for. Sometimes it's weird that I supervise people who are 20+ years older than me.
>Asda employee (British version of walmart) while studying at uni.
Quite like it to be honest. Pay is alright compared to most my age and I pretty much get to choose when to work.
The job itself is pretty comfy. Just left on my own to stack shelves and tidy up. Pour every penny about half of what i make into crypto and the rest into a savings account.

Why?
Doctors in my country only make about 150-200k per year, it's not like in the US right here. What career would you chose at the end?
Can you explain this title inflation to me please?
I'm 23, I'm going back to school to get into my school's IT program. I'm not necessarily sure what I'd like to do within IT but I'm really hoping that this area isn't going to go to shit in a few years given that AI is advancing.
I know that's an assumption but I'd like to hear some opinions.
i'm 35 btw.
currently i would like to do as much excel vba as i can, it's the part i do enjoy most. If you get any data in the industry it is .csv, .xlsx or .txt so it is really helpful in my environment, too. right now i'm doing like 85% excel vba, so i do enjoy my job.

Agrees.
Wanting to improve my financial and time management positions (both tied to self control) as my parents won't be around forever to help me. Coworkers are cool and down with my weirdness, but job physically takes a toll and equipment is for shorter people than me, so that makes the physical part worse.
Cut down from 35-40 hours a week due to chronic pain from job environment.
Might still work there once a week for 3 to 5 hours as people are neat to socialize with.
Damn, that's a nice chart user.

Please elaborate, since you're so full knowledge.

An honest question, how is it fun?
Orthopedic Surgeon here
Most doctors aren’t geniuses. Mostly its hard work and using common sense, the body is pretty much just a complex system of plumbing with a hemodynamic element. For the most part, once you get how systems are interconnected to each other and can reason/think through the pathway, its fairly easy. Just takes memorizing, hard work, and practice. However you get some geniuses but they end up being complete autists and go into IM or research because real world applications and clinical/textbook tend not to match, thus common sense/reasoning is needed.
Also, once you do well on your licensing tests its just a matter of mastering your given specialty. Its kind of like cooking or carpentry where you just gotta practice over and over till it becomes second nature

businesses are far away from anything with AI. there are like 5 places in the world with working AI.
to be honest, businesses struggle with the simplest of all things, like user requirements.
I'm 25. Got fired from my job like a week ago after working there for 2 years. I'm getting NEETbux now. Just got approved today. It's kinda nice. Getting 70% of my prior income tax free while dedicating all my time to learning how to write Blockchain apps and applying for better jobs that pay 30% more than my old one. I've never been a NEET before, but I can easily see why it's so fucking comfy.

Why would you say it's far away? Given the pace at which the internet, IoT, and automation has changed over the past 5-10 years, is it not safe to say that AI/automation is continuously advancing and growing as well?
It'll be within the next decade that these technologies will make a good portion of jobs obsolete.

Not much to tell really. Worked in an office in Denver, had a great boss, loved my job. Got laid off when O&G prices tanked back in 2015 and have been chilling on personal savings and investments ever since. Now I just spend my days doing what I love, shitposting on Jow Forums since 2004.

honest question: why go uni then military? why not straight into military? i'm british, and that's how it's done here, even for commissioned officers (usually).
In America, in order to become an officer, you have to have a bachelor degree.
>Implying "I" exist.
Another pilot here, and the answer is no. I have 20/500 vision and wear contacts. If your vision is corrected to 20/30 or better then you're good to fly.
Okay, riddle me this. My situation is unique and I would like your honest input. I'm a NEET due to certain circumstances (unstable upbringing, yadda yadda) in my late 20's and I'm sitting on a small pile of cash (about $100k) from basically odd jobs and living in my mom's basement with no expenses for the last 10 years. Can I become a pilot or is that out of reach for me?
