Hello, I am writing a paper on the biggest challenges facing spain foreign policy wise. I was hoping I could get some help on ideas from you guys. I am not sure what Spain is up to internationally and I was hoping I could get some help from someone who knows more about this country. Also feel free to discuss Spanish culture & politics freely.
Spanish Foreign Policy Challenges
>I am not sure what Spain is up to internationally
On average other than the commies Spain is pro Hispanic, pro EU, pro NATO, the commies pro Hispanic, pro MENA, anti EU, anti NATO
Same as the EU, plus
>are we friends with Saudi Arabia? Our former king certainly was. Oil, ships and bribes.
>are we friends with Morocco? Immigration, fishing zones and drug traffic.
>are we friends with Cuba? If they open to capitalism, our hotel brands want a piece of that
Long story short, our biggest controversies are internal, and it looks we wont have a real government until autumn.
OP here. I am reading about the nationalist party VOX and it looks like they are coming around. Would it be a good paper to discuss how nationalism making a rise will influence international relations? Idk if it would be focused enough for my professors standards but just an idea
Western Sahara is a big one, personally I think Spain should declare war on Morocco
This is global phenomenon and you would look like a retard writing for VICE
I understand that it is a global phenomenon but I need an interesting topic with plenty of research material to write a paper.
We're way more concerned about fishing rights and keeping Moroccan police cracking nignog heads open than about some sand tribes.
Unironically the only ones that give a shit about western sahara are the antifa and the catalanists.
What is going on with Western Sahara?
Yeah, it's true but the whole thing has been in stalemate for 40 years
You can try but VOX nationalism is mostly a reaction to catalonia and immigrants (specially muslims). They arent winning shit in this election.
They dont have a position in any international affair, except when they acknowledge getting $1M from Iranian NCRI.
Also Gibraltar.
Freedom. They wanted freedom and freedom they had.
Spain occupied parts of Morocco.
Legally it's a Spanish colony that is still waiting to be decolonised
In practice it's a Moroccan province with an Algerian-backed guerrilla problem
Spain simply doesn't want to hear about it and let Moroccans and Sahrawis sort it out
Would Morrocan-Spanish relations be a viable topic for a 7 page research paper? Currently looking at wikipedia & articles on the subject.
yes
muh drug
muh ceuta
muh fucking rock on the coast of Morocco that is Spanish
muh migrants
Sure, you have 500 years and many wars to research
>muh fucking rock on the coast of Morocco that is Spanish
Perejil island, that was funny banter
Little known fact, at some point in the 60s, Franco asked the US for help to develop an atomic bomb, to threaten Morocco on the Western Sahara subject.
Definitely
Very cool. Thank you guys I think I found my topic. Keep up the interesting discussion on the relationship if you like I am gonna get to researching. God bless in your political struggles.
Thank you as well. What flag is that by the way? Phone fag here
