It's the paradigm of material happiness vs immaterial happiness.

So yes, Scandinavian countries are very "happy" by metrics that basically ask to what extent the country follows the Nordic Model, whereas actual happiness is more prominent in developing "shitholes" that are more than willing to make up for the fertility deficit of enlightened Scandinavians.
